  • Patent number: 8290573
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for quantifying and providing indicia of ST-segment resolution in an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. A receiver acquires an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal that includes an ST-segment. A processor processes the ECG signal to determine values for the ST-segment deviation relative to an isoelectric baseline. A user is allowed to provide a baseline signal to the processor. The processor responds to the baseline signal by marking a baseline ST-segment value corresponding to a baseline time. A user interface displays a linear graphical trend of variations in the measured ST-segment values relative to the baseline ST-segment value. In certain embodiments, the processor detects user-selected trigger events such as post-intervention ST deviation relative to the baseline time and the baseline ST-segment value, and provides indicia of the trigger event. In addition, or in other embodiments, a verbal annunciation of a percent ST-segment resolution is provided.

  • Patent number: 8286877
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems of and methods for reading optical codes located on multiple sides of an item that is being moved through a read volume. In one method, optical symbols are read using a high speed raster laser beam and non-retrodirective collection optics including the steps of moving an item containing an optical code along an item direction past a window disposed in a surface of a scanner housing or platter; via a first scan mechanism, repeatedly scanning through the window at a first slant and/or tilt angle to the surface in a first direction and along a single line to acquire scanned data over two dimensions of one or more sides of the item; via a second scan mechanism, repeatedly scanning through the window at a second slant and/or tilt angle to the surface in a second direction and along a single line to acquire scanned data over two dimensions of one or more other sides of the item; and processing the scanned data acquired.

  • Patent number: 8286384
Abstract: A method for aiming a projectile weapon may utilize an aiming device having a primary aiming mark adapted to be sighted-in at a first selected range and one or more secondary aiming marks spaced below the primary aiming mark, and includes identifying, from at least two different groups of projectiles, a projectile group corresponding to a selected projectile. An aiming adjustment for the projectile weapon is determined and effected based on the range to the target and the nominal ballistic characteristics of the identified projectile group corresponding to the selected projectile. Other methods of aiming include identifying one projectile group from two or more predetermined projectile groups based on a selected projectile. Each predetermined projectile group preferably includes two or more different projectiles, preferably of different calibers, and a projectile having ballistic characteristics that are approximately median for each such projectile group.

  • Patent number: 8288679
Abstract: A laser processing system for micromachining a workpiece includes a laser source to generate laser pulses for processing a feature in a workpiece, a galvanometer-driven (galvo) subsystem to impart a first relative movement of a laser beam spot position along a processing trajectory with respect to the surface of the workpiece, and an acousto-optic deflector (AOD) subsystem. The AOD subsystem may include a combination of AODs and electro-optic deflectors. The AOD subsystem may vary an intensity profile of laser pulses as a function of deflection position along a dither direction. The AOD subsystem may be used for aligning a processing laser beam to workpiece features.

  • Patent number: 8289358
Abstract: Laser printers are plagued with an assortment of alignment issues. In color laser printers the issues are exacerbated. Variations in distance from the mirror to the drum can lines in different color planes to vary in size. Variations in angles in the facets of the mirror can cause alignment issues between lines. Even lack of synchronization between the dot clock and start of line indication can cause misalignment between rows. In addition, a cosine distortion occurs due to the non-constant linear velocity of the laser scan of a single line. A very high speed master clock can drive the laser scanning unit. By using a very high speed clock, the control circuitry has the resolution to compensate for many of these distortion types, by appropriately counting clock cycles and indicating such to the laser modulator.

  • Patent number: 8282560
Abstract: A frame averaging circuit adapted for a color blood flow frame in a medical ultrasound imaging system. The frame averaging circuit comprises two sections, i.e., a recursive calculation section and a non-recursive section. The recursive calculation section employs an IIR filter in combination with a look-up table, and is adapted for dealing with the cases where no change occurs to the blood flow velocity direction. The non-recursive section compares the blood flow velocity, the energy and the energy prior to wall filtering of the color blood flow echo signal to various threshold values. Different from the recursive calculation section, the non-recursive section is employed when a change occurs to the blood flow velocity direction.
