  • Patent number: 7110664
Abstract: Archival storage and retrieval of audio/video information is described. Audio and/or video information is digitized, compressed and stored in an intermediate archive format (IAF), which preserves the content at a high-enough quality for subsequent retrieval and conversion into various formats required at the time of use or distribution. A single capture operation is performed with ancillary metadata being added to facilitate subsequent searching, indexing and format conversion. Captured data content is catalogued and indexed at or subsequent to the creation of an IAF file that includes the archived information. The IAF includes a family of audio-video digital encoding formats based on public standards. The encoding format used in any particular application is determined at encoding time from information provided by the archive system user. At encoding, the particular encoding scheme is selected to optimize a tradeoff between storage constraints and end use quality requirements.

  • Patent number: 6961888
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for encoding codewords which are particularly well suited for use with low density parity check (LDPC) codes and long codewords are described. The described methods allow encoding graph structures which are largely comprised of multiple identical copies of a much smaller graph. Copies of the smaller graph are subject to a controlled permutation operation to create the larger graph structure. The same controlled permutations are directly implemented to support bit passing between the replicated copies of the small graph. Bits corresponding to individual copies of the graph are stored in a memory and accessed in sets, one from each copy of the graph, using a SIMD read or write instruction. The graph permutation operation may be implemented by simply reordering bits, e.g., using a cyclic permutation operation, in each set of bits read out of a bit memory so that the bits are passed to processing circuits corresponding to different copies of the small graph.

  • Patent number: 6920213
Abstract: AIN based call routing, transfer and conferencing methods and apparatus are disclosed. In various embodiments initial call routing is based on the availability of a party to service a call as determined from a computer system associated with the party selected to service the call. The party's computer system supports a telephone programming application interface (TAPI) which allows a telephone network server to determine the availability of the party selected to service the call from, in part, TAPI obtained telephone line status information. The network server supplies call related data to the computer system of the party assigned to service the call. Call transfer and conferencing operations along with the transfer of call related data are also supported. AIN mid-call triggers are used in some embodiments to support call transfer and conferencing operations.

  • Patent number: 6803955
Abstract: An imaging device having an imaging pixel array formed as a two-dimensional periodic array of N-pixel (N being 5 or a greater natural number) arrays as unit arrays is disclosed. Also, the color imaging apparatus comprises a CCD imaging device, which have pixels arranged in a 6-color random color coding array. The array meets an array prescription that the pixels adjacent to the four sides and the four corners of a pixel number attention includes pixels of five different colors other than the color of the pixel under attention at least one pixel each. The 6-color random color coding array has six colors with two thereof constituting each of three original colors while being different in sensitivity.

  • Patent number: 6746231
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for implementing a thermal equalizing system for use within a hot runner system of a plastic injection molding apparatus are described. The thermal equalizing system employs at least one thermal fluid circulating circuit which uses a heat transfer fluid to remove excess heat from overheated areas within the injection molding apparatus and/or to add heat to under heated areas within the injection molding apparatus.
