Abstract: An apparatus and method for producing high definition output images using an encoding scheme for differentiating between differing data types and context sensitive pixel modulation for dynamically shifting pixel growth direction during post-processing manipulation of the data.
Abstract: A method for bonding together liquid crystal cells using a transparent grease. The grease maintains a level of viscosity appropriate for physically bonding the cells while matching the indices of refraction of the cells or cell layers for proper optical coupling.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for enabling intelligent post-processing of differing data types wherein different types of data are encoded with different sets of values such that a post-processing apparatus is able to recognize and delineate between the different types and perform post-processing procedures on only the appropriate type.
Abstract: An electrostatic shield and method for shielding an electric field are presented, having particular application to the reduction of electric field emissions from a CRT display. The electrostatic shield is formed from a flexible non-conductive substrate and includes a plurality of radially disposed conductive elements. The shield is secured to the outer surface of the CRT, between the deflection yoke and screen, and the conductive elements are coupled to ground potential. In addition to a method for using the abovedescribed shield, a method is presented for shielding the electric field by applying conductive traces directly to the surface of the CRT, again between the deflection yoke and screen. These traces are coupled to the aquadag coating on the outer surface of the CRT, effectively grounding the traces and providing the desired shielding effect.

Abstract: A bidirectional synchronous gearing mechanism includes a first gear with a first and second gear profile and a second gear identical to the first gear and with identical first and second gear profiles. The teeth of the two gears are meshed together and the gears are rotatably secured about their respective central axes. Rotation of one of the gears causes rotation of the other gear in an opposite direction.
Abstract: An optically transmissive armature is presented for use with an optical encoder mechanism in a cursor control device. The armature includes a substantially planar rectangular base, a plurality of supports, and a plurality of optical wave guides. An encoder mechanism is rotatably secured to the supports by an axis and is disposed in a predetermined position between the wave guides. The guides provide an optical pathway between photo-emitter/photo-detector pairs mounted on the surface of the printed circuit board of the cursor control device.
Abstract: An electric field cancellation system and method for reducing electric fields are presented, especially suited for use in reducing the magnitude of electric field emissions from a CRT display. Signals from the electric field sources of the display are used to generate counter signals of equal magnitude and opposite polarity to the source signals. These counter signals are coupled to a plurality of transmitters which effectively establish a counter electric field, or fields, of opposite polarity to the source fields. The net effect is substantial reduction in the electric field emissions from the display, and a resultant electric field of substantially reduced magnitude encountered by a display operator.
