  • Patent number: 6550275
Abstract: A gemstone setting is disclosed with rounded gemstones with outer faceted surfaces, each gemstone forming an outwardly contoured or convex gemstone configuration which is invisibly set in flush, surface to surface, mating relation within the setting. A section of a rounded gemstone is cut away, leaving a concave inset within and a curved concave inner surface on the gemstone. This concave configuration allows the partially cut away gemstone to mate in flush, surface to surface relation with the convex outer surface of the adjacent gemstone. Grooves within the side facets of the gemstone invisibly set the gemstones in position within supporting housings. The setting of gemstones in this fashion, employing surface to surface flush mating contact, can be used in infinite jewelry designs which employ rounded, curved edge, contoured or generally convex configured gemstones.

  • Patent number: 6421926
Abstract: The present invention relates to a stringline guide system for setting required vertical and horizontal distances, while laying out and preparing a road, sidewalk, driveway or similar construction surface. The system is adapted for use with string, twine, wire, fishing line, tubing, or other similarly and commonly used construction type lines. Circular collars are positioned on the marking rods or stakes of the system. The collars have internal and external surfaces and are mounted on the rods or stakes at and through their interior surfaces. The collars are adjustably mounted on the rods by wing nuts extending through the collars to the rods. The collars have dual grooves which substantially encircle the exterior surface of the collar. The grooves are configured to accept and maintain the stringline, thus securing the lines in position on the collars. Stringlines with external diameters which approximate the width of the grooves can be compressed within the grooves for added securing ability.

  • Patent number: 6419415
Abstract: A fluid distribution appliance comprises a manifold unit integrally formed with top, side, front and back walls, and a bottom surface, and a handle receiving section. The walls and bottom surface of the manifold form an enclosed space, through which fluid flows and is delivered through nozzles located at one of the front walls of the manifold. The manifold also supports a squeegee made of a layer of semi-rigid material, which is secured to the manifold by a holddown plate and screws. A triangular brace support is secured at one end to a handle attached to a handle receiving section of the manifold and, at its other two ends, to the manifold. The manifold, with its brace and handle, can be used independently or in combination with a bristle push broom head which is configured to receive the manifold in fitted, surface to surface contact.

  • Patent number: 6389635
Abstract: A base plate assembly for a butterfly sponge mop consists of two side shell pieces, each with two outwardly extending axle members. The axle members are directly connected to the front and rear walls of the mop's center sponge member support. No additional hardware or other connection fittings are required. A single spring, which partially overlays one axle member of each side shell, provides the necessary bias to maintain the side shells in a common horizontal plane in relation to the sponge support member. The side shells in this base plate assembly can then be rotated or pivoted in the conventional manner, in order to fold the sponge member of the mop and thus squeeze moisture from it. The assembly operates effectively and efficiently, requiring less component parts and less attendant manufacturing.

  • Patent number: 6378147
Abstract: An appliance is provided for individuals, especially those with disabilities which render them incapable of readily getting into and out of a bathing position in a bathtub. The appliance consists of an inflatable seat with a top seat surface and side, back, front, and bottom walls made of a resilient material of single ply construction. The seat, when deflated, is flattened and crushed into a thin layer which can then be readily rolled into a compact unit and stored and transported in an accompanying carrying case. A bath mat type extension is secured to the front wall of the seat to supply a non-skid surface to the user while in the bathtub and for facilitating the roll-up aspect of the invention. The appliance employs the use of an air pump and air hose for supplying and delivering air to the seat, along with a valve for controlling the flow of air. A remotely operated device for controlling the operation of the air pump is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6357944
Abstract: A crayon protector comprises a covering which is substantially cylindrical in configuration. The covering is made of unbreakable, non-cuttable, yet flexible material, for instance molded plastic. The covering is configured with open ends and a longitudinal slit which prevents complete encircling of the crayon. The covering is inserted on a crayon and substantially surrounds and reinforces it from breakage at its break zone. The slit facilitates insertion and removal and allows flexible expansion of the covering for use with crayons of varying diameters. The protector can also be used to prevent breakage of other relatively easily breakable writing implements, like chalk, pastel and charcoal sticks.
