    Abstract: A novel method for fabricating an OLED display is disclosed wherein the conducting polymer layer is selectively deposited over the surface of the display such that the conducting polymer is kept away from areas where its presence is either not required for the resulting structure or is difficult to remove with usual techniques, such as laser ablation. Other polymer layers may be deposited uniformly over the surface of the display by way of spin coating or other suitable methods known in the art.

    Abstract: A fault tolerant memory control system is provided for a computer system having a host processor, a memory and a system interconnect. The memory control system includes a primary memory controller and a backup memory controller with a tap coupled to the interconnect. Data is transferred from the host processor to the memory in the form of data packets. First, the host processor writes to the memory by sending a data packet to the primary memory controller which then caches the data from the data packet. The backup memory controller taps the interconnect to obtain a backup copy of the data packet as the data packet is being sent from the host processor to the primary memory controller which caches the data from the backup copy of the data packet. If the primary memory controller is functional, the primary memory controller sends the data to the memory via a primary path coupling the primary memory controller to the memory.     Abstract: The present invention is a novel pixel structure, and method for making the same, that reduces wasteful voltage drop associated with other pixel structures that cover their pixel elements with a final passivation layer. The presently claimed pixel structure is a combination of a thin film transistor (TFT), an associated pixel element, and a passivation layer. The TFT is first deposited atop a suitable substrate and patterned. Then, the passivation layer is deposited on top of the thin film transistor. Contact cuts are made into the passivation layer where the pixel element is to contact the TFT. Finally, the pixel element is deposited--lying atop the passivation layer and contacting with the underlying TFT where the contact cuts were made in the passivation layer.

    Abstract: A digital printer for printing images in response to full-frame, two-dimensional digital image data input from an outside source. The digital printer is a novel combination of a two dimensional backlight for producing full frame illumination in a single flash, a photoreceptor sensitive to light emanating from the backlight, a two-dimensional, transmissive light valve, an imaging system, and a driver. The light valve is disposed between the backlight and the photoreceptor so that light from the backlight is transmitted through the light valve, producing a full-frame, two dimensional image on the photoreceptor in response to a single flash of the backlight. The full-frame, two dimensional image corresponds to a pattern formed on the light valve in response to the full-frame, two dimensional digital image data. The imaging system is disposed between the light valve and the photoreceptor, such that it focuses the full-frame, two dimensional image onto the photoreceptor.

    Abstract: The present invention is a digital imaging system for a copier that comprises a full-frame, two-dimensional sensor array to capture a document's image and a full-frame output light valve with backlight to flash expose the image onto a photoreceptor belt. The document is flash exposed to illuminate the page and the full-page image is captured by the full-frame, two dimensional sensor array. The sensor array then reads out the digital image data in response to a driver. The data is then input into the full-frame digital output light valve. The driver provides for the synchronous control of the system. Optionally, an electronic subsystem may perform digital image processing according to user demand--before the data arrives at the output light valve. After image processing (if any), the digital data, supplied to the full-page output light valve, forms a pattern on the display according to the data. The patterned image is then flash exposed by a backlight, through the light valve, and onto a photoreceptor.

    Abstract: The present invention is a novel multilayered structure comprising alternating layers of a base metal and a metal selected from a group of barrier metals. The base metal, in any given layer, is deposited to a thickness less than its critical thickness--a thickness beyond which hillocks are more likely to form for a given temperature. Between each such layer of base metal, a layer of barrier metal is interposed. The intervening layer of barrier metal acts to suppress the formation of hillocks in the base metal.
