  • Patent number: 7331149
Abstract: A method and apparatus for installing backing in walls which include a first, second and third upright U-shaped stud. A first backing member has a first end, a second end, a top, a bottom, a first side and a second side. The first backing member is disposed between the first and second studs. A second backing member has a first end, a second end, a top, a bottom, a first side and a second side. The second backing member is disposed between said second and third studs. A hinge is operatively attached to the first side of the first and second backing members for permitting the second backing member to pivot with respect the first backing member between a first position wherein the first side of each of the first and second backing members are substantially in the same plane and a second position whereby the first and second backing members are not in the same plane. This permits the first backing member to be placed between a first and second adjacent vertical stud.

  • Patent number: 7313905
Abstract: A folding frame for a drawn implement such as a hay rake is disclosed. The frame includes cushion fold cylinders, a lift cylinder, and a windrow width cylinder. The lift arms actuated by the lift cylinder lift the frame wings and engage a selector valve, providing an open circuit to either the fold cylinder or the windrow width cylinder, or both. During folding, when the cylinders reach the cushion region of their stroke, the pressure in the hydraulic circuit increases, resulting in a change in the force applied to the selector valve by the lift arm. By careful adjustment, this change in pressure will adjust the selector valve so the hydraulic circuit is open to both the fold and windrow width cylinders. Consequently, the windrow width cylinders extend, keeping the frame wings from colliding with the main frame.

  • Patent number: 7309439
Abstract: A device for transporting magnetic or magnetizable microbeads (25) in a capillary chamber (14) comprises a permanent magnet (10) or an electromagnet (11) for subjecting the capillary chamber to a substantially uniform magnetic field, to apply a permanent magnetic moment to the microbeads (25). At least one planar coil (22) and preferably an array of overlapping coils are located adjacent to the capillary chamber (14) for applying a complementary magnetic field on the microbeads parallel or antiparallel to said substantially uniform magnetic field, to drive the microbeads. An arrangement is provided for switching the current applied to the coil(s) (22) to invert the field produced thereby, to selectively apply an attractive or repulsive driving force on the microbeads (25). The device is usable to transport microbeads for performing chemical and biochemical reactions or assay, as is done for instance in clinical chemistry assays for medical diagnostic purposes.
