Abstract: The invention provides a hydrogel-type sustained-release preparation comprising (1) at least one drug, (2) an additive which insures a penetration of water into the core of the preparation and (3) a hydrogel-forming polymer, wherein said preparation is capable of undergoing substantially complete gelation during its stay in the upper digestive tract such as stomach and small intestine and is capable of releasing the drug in the lower digestive tract including colon.
By the preparation of the invention, the drug is efficiently released and absorbed even in the colon so that a steady and sustained release effect can be achieved.
Abstract: An electrode for a light-emitting semiconductor device includes a light-permeable electrode formed to come into contact with the surface of the semiconductor, and a wire-bonding electrode that is in electrical contact with the light-permeable electrode and is formed to come into partial contact with the surface of the semiconductor with at least a region in contact with the semiconductor having a higher contact resistance per unit area with respect to the semiconductor than a region of the light-permeable electrode in contact with the semiconductor.
Abstract: There are herein disclosed a raw material for a complex perovskite ceramic composition which is intended to uniformly disperse a trace amount of an addition component (manganese) therein, and a process for preparing the ceramic composition.A manganese-containing composite oxide is represented by the general formula (Mn.sub.a MeI.sub.1-a)MeII.sub.b O.sub.c wherein a is a value in the range of 0<a.ltoreq.0.3; MeI is at least one of Mg, Ni and Zn; MeII is one of Nb, Ta and W; when MeII is Nb or Ta, b is 2 and c is 6, or when MeII is W, b is 1 and c is 4. By the use of a raw material containing this manganese-containing complex oxide, there can be prepared an Mn-containing complex perovskite compound composition which contains Mn and at least one of complex perovskite compounds represented by the general formula Pb(BIBII)O.sub.3 wherein BI is one of Mg, Ni and Zn; and BII is one of Nb, Ta and W.
Abstract: A vessel for filtering liquids includes a container and a receptacle for the liquid to be filtered, with a filtering device between the receptacle and the container. A lid is removably fitted to the container for the purpose of easy access to the container. A counting device is associated with the lid and is automatically activated by the removal of the lid for detecting and counting the occasions on which access is gained to the container by removing the lid.
Abstract: An automatic laser power control circuit comprises a laser diode package, a voltage adjusting unit and a polarity adjusting unit. The laser diode package emits laser light according to an applied voltage, and outputs an electric signal of a voltage proportional to the power of the emitted laser light. The voltage adjusting unit adjusts the voltage applied to said laser diode package based on the voltage of the electric signal outputted from said laser diode package. The polarity adjusting unit changes a polarity of the voltage of the electric signal outputted from said laser diode package so that the polarity is the same as that of the voltage applied to said laser diode package, and supplies the voltage having the changed polarity to said voltage adjusting unit. The automatic laser power control circuit provides an advantage that a monitor diode included in the laser diode package can be compatibly used regardless of its ground type.
Abstract: A symbol timing recovery circuit and method of a digital television is disclosed including: an analog-to-digital converter (10) for sampling a received analog signal by a symbol clock to be converted to digital data; demodulator (20) for recovering a carrier wave, demodulating the digital data to a baseband signal and generating a segment signal; a segment synchronizing signal detector (40) for detecting a segment synchronizing signal from the segment signal; a phase error detector (50) activated by the segment synchronizing signal, for receiving the segment signal and detecting a phase error of synchronizing symbols of the segment synchronizing signal; and a symbol clock is phase adjuster (60) for adjusting the phase of the symbol clock according to the phase error of the synchronizing symbols to be supplied to the analog-to-digital converter as the symbol clock.
Abstract: A method of adjusting an electronic function implemented in an article that forms a part of a population of articles to be adjusted, the electronic function presenting dispersion from one article to another. When necessary, the method comprises replacing an initial parameter stored in a dispersion correction stage that is coupled to the electronic function with a correction parameter so that the combined response of said function plus the associated correction stage to a predetermined input stimulus lies in a predetermined range. The initial parameter is a centered parameter corresponding to the mean value of the capability curve of correction parameters for the function, the mean value itself being updated whenever the percentage of the population of articles for which test measurements lie outside the predetermined range becomes greater than a predetermined percentage. A large proportion of the measurements performed thus lie within the predetermined range so there is then no need to adjust the function.
Abstract: A disk recording/reproducing apparatus includes a stacked pair of trays having a disk seating unit thereon. While a disk of one tray is recorded or reproduced, another disk mounted within a magazine can be replaced by the other tray.
