Abstract: A valve timing control system for an internal combustion engine is arranged such that a plurality of valve timing control means can be actuated without degrading or impairing the responsivity of the other valve timing control means or mechanism(s), whereby the responsivity of not only the valve timing control means actuated but also the other valve timing control means not actuated can be ensured.
Abstract: A modular housing for a substrate with electronic components, wherein the housing comprises at least a base part and a cover part. The parts of the housing consist of an electrically conductive material for electromagnetic shielding and form outer walls enclosing a space inside the housing which accommodates the substrate. Dividing walls extend in the space inside the housing and have free edges which support the substrate.
Abstract: A glow plug includes a metallic sleeve 1; a cylindrical metallic shell 2, which holds the metallic sleeve 1; a terminal electrode 3, which is attached into the cylindrical metallic shell 2 while being insulated therefrom; a ceramic heating member 4, which is fitted into the metallic sleeve 1; and a glass coating layer 5. In the glow plug, a portion of an ion detection electrode 411 is exposed at the surface of an insulator 44 of the ceramic heating member 4. The exposed portion is coated with a glass coating layer 5, which is formed in such a manner as to extend all around the insulator 44 of the ceramic heating member 4 and has a thickness of 10-200 &mgr;m and a softening point of not lower than 600° C.

Abstract: An air-communicated opening (8a) of an ink cartridge (8) connected to an ink jet recording head (7) is sealed to apply negative pressure from the suction device (11) to the recording head (7) through a capping unit (10). Ink is forcibly discharged from the recording head (7) until the internal pressure of the ink cartridge (8) is brought into a condition of equilibrium with the sucking pressure of the suction device (11). Thus, air bubbles are discharged to the outside by force of the flow of ink. Then, the pressure of the ink in the ink cartridge (8) is reduced to the sucking pressure to raise the degree of deaeration of the ink.

Abstract: In an ink ribbon separation device for use with a thermal transfer apparatus having a separation bar, the shape of the separation bar is such that the thickness of the bar in an ink ribbon travelling direction is greater at its center in the direction orthogonal to the ink ribbon travelling direction than that at the ends thereof. The center bulges in a downstream direction in a bow shape at a rate of 10 to 200 &mgr;m with respect to a toner width of 100 mm.
Abstract: An end-processed coaxial cable structure includes a plurality of coaxial cables, each having i) a central conductor surrounded by a dielectric layer, ii) a shielding layer surrounding the dielectric layer, and iii) a jacket layer surrounding the shielding layer. End portions of the coaxial cables have jacket layers removed to expose shielding layer end portions. Metal ground bars are fixed with solder to the shielding layer end portions. The shielding layer end portions are shorter than a width of the metal ground bars so that the shielding layer end portions do not project to the outside of the metal ground bars.

Abstract: In an intake air quantity controlling device for a combustion engine, a supporting portion of a bearing 10 for a valve shaft 9 having a choke valve 11, rotatably operated in an intake air passage 2, a supporting portion of a shaft of an intermediate gear 6, and a reference hole for a shaft of a rotor 12 fabricating a motor are formed in a metallic plate 15, whereby the intake air quantity controlling device has a high dimensional accuracy and a high strength.
Abstract: This invention provides a medical diagnosis and therapy system particularly adapted for the combined uses of emergency cardiac defibrillation and pulmonary oxygen administration, including automated patient cardiopulmonary assessment and voice prompted therapy and resuscitation: electrocardio diagnosis/monitoring/defibrillation and electropulmonary blood oximetry/oxygen administration. Abstract: An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for telecommunication applications such as ASDLNDSL UMTS/GPRS wherein the conversion is realized in current mode instead of voltage mode. The power consumption is thereby reduced and the converter is adapted to be used in (low voltage) battery operated products. The structure of the converter is also simplified because summing of currents is easier than summing of voltages. The converter comprises at least a first set of N=64 first current cells (CC) coupled in parallel between lines (L+, L−) of a differential current bus. Each first current cell comprises a current source (ICC) to supply a first additional current (64×Iref) to the current bus under control of first comparator circuits (COMP1+, COMP1−). The first comparator circuits of the current cells are coupled in cascade and activated step-by-step one after each other.
Abstract: To exactly obtain a volumetric efficiency or ignition timing corresponding to a shift amount in rotational angle or phase of a camshaft relative to a crank shaft operably connected therewith even if the opening/closing timing of an exhaust valve and an intake valve is changed so as to optimally control an fuel injection amount or ignition timing, the fuel injection amount or the ignition timing is controlled by calculating a fuel control parameter or an ignition timing control parameter on the basis of an intake pressure and a rpm of the engine. When the valve timing is changed, the amount of change in the valve timing is detected so that the fuel control parameter or the ignition timing control parameter is compensated for on the basis of the change amount thus detected.

Abstract: A controller of an electric power steering system corrects a motor current command value by using a temperature of a motor, and compensates a variation in a motor current characteristic in accordance with a variation in the temperature.
The controller includes a torque sensor for detecting a steering torque of a steering wheel; a motor for supplying a steering assist torque to a steering shaft integrally provided with the steering wheel; and a control unit for driving the motor in accordance with a magnitude of the steering torque. The control unit corrects a motor current command value in accordance with a temperature of the motor, and controls a motor current in accordance with the corrected motor current command value.
Abstract: A DRAM includes a first power source section for supplying a higher operational voltage in an active mode and a lower waiting voltage in a waiting mode to a data processing section through a source line, a compensating capacitor connected to the source line for alleviating the fluctuations on the source line, a second power source section for supplying the operational voltage to the compensating capacitor, and a switch for coupling the source line to the compensating capacitor in the active mode.
