  • Patent number: 4447933
Abstract: A gut casing holding nozzle includes a rotating fill tube 1 with a gut casing holding element 4 on its end. This is surrounded by a conical section 5, which is mounted in a mounting 8. Between the conical section 5 and the gut casing holding element 4 there is an annular slot for the gut casing to pass through. The conical section 5 is attached to the mounting 8 with radial and axial play, with the mounting 8 able to rotate. Two anchoring pins 13 attached to the mounting 8 are inserted into cavities 14 in the conical section 5, so as to cause that piece to rotate along with the mounting. In so doing automatic centering of the conical section 5 as compared to the fill tube 1 is guaranteed. Even out-of-round conditions in the fill tube or variations in gut casing wall thicknesses are compensated for automatically. The gut casing holding device is suited for high speed work conditions.

  • Patent number: 4448610
Abstract: The cast tube (T) is subjected internally in a chill-mould (1) to the uniform spraying of water from 1000.degree. C. approximately to 350.degree. C. approximately. Then it is extracted from the chill-mould and in a furnace is subjected to isothermal bainitization maintenance, after which it is cooled in the atmosphere to ambient temperature. Without it being necessary to add expensive chilling elements, one thus obtains lightened tubes having very good mechanical properties and the ovalization of which remains acceptable.

  • Patent number: 4448105
Abstract: A drum construction is provided with a bottom ring having a plurality of projections extending outwardly therefrom at equally spaced locations about the circumference thereof for supporting tubes of proper length according the drum shell depth. The tubes have internal threads on both ends which accept the tension screws for connecting the top and bottom hoops to the ring. A drum shell is clamped between the bottom ring and the top hoop and is completely free of holes and does not have any hardware attached thereto thereby providing only a minimum dampening effect. The shell is located concentrically on the upper surface of the bottom ring by means of shaped washers which are held in place by lock nuts on the tube ends. Auxiliary support brackets may be clamped to adjacent tubes in spaced relation to the shell so as not to adversely affect the tonal characteristics of the shell.

  • Patent number: 4448045
Abstract: A slider needle for knitting machines, particularly flat knitting machines, omprises a needle body with needle hook and at least one needle butt, and a slider equipped with slider foot and mounted to be displaceable relative to the needle body. In order to ensure trouble-free and reliable separation of the old stitches from newly laid yarn a short swivel detent is mounted on the needle body behind the needle hook. The length and shape of this swivel element is chosen so that in the normal position of the needle, with the needle hook closed by the slider, the swivel detent is masked by the slider in the vertical direction, while when the needle hook is open the swivel detent projects proud of the needle body and above the slider in both its end positions.

  • Patent number: 4448855
Abstract: The present invention is intended for a heat resistant reflector in which a light reflective metal is vacuum coated on a metal or inorganic material substrate and in which on the surface of the vacuum coated layer is further vacuum coated a light transmissible ceramic and preferably, a ceramic having a crystalline substance. This reflector has a light reflective metal and a ceramic vacuum coated together, and thus, can form a thin film of the same replica as a substrate. Therefore, there is very little refraction or absorption of light due to a protective film, cnanges of total reflectivity, regular reflectivity or refractivity are very few and its manufacture as well is simple because of continuous vacuum coating with one and the same coating machine.
