  • Patent number: 6266408
Abstract: A method an apparatus are disclosed for controlling echo in a video conferencing system. A memory device is used for storing a far-end input signal, a near-end input signal and an estimated echo signal as initial parameters to matching the circumstances of a video conferencing system as installed in a particular conference room. An echo controller calculates an initial adaptive filter coefficient using the initial parameters stored in the memory. The echo controller also updates the adaptive filter coefficient using new parameters which are input during a conference. An adaptation controller reads the initial parameters stored in the memory and provides them to the echo controller. The adaptation controller also updates the initial parameters in the memory with signals which are input to the echo controller during the conference, after a predetermined period of time has elapsed. As a result, echo control can be effectively performed from the very initial stage of a video conference.

  • Patent number: 6266127
Abstract: An image reading method and an image reading device enable an elongated photographic photosensitive material to always be read well even if the elongated photographic photosensitive material has connected portions or deformed perforations. When a discontinuous portion detecting sensor detects a discontinuous portion such as a connected portion or a deformed perforation, an image frame which will be at a position for reading at a time when the discontinuous portion may interfere with conveying rollers is predicted. While the discontinuous portion is being conveyed between auxiliary conveying rollers and the conveying rollers and after a predetermined amount of time has elapsed before a predicted image frame is read by a CCD line sensor, conveying of the elongated photographic photosensitive material is switched to the auxiliary conveying rollers, and the elongated photographic photosensitive material is read.

  • Patent number: 6264780
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for manufacturing a bead filler which does not deteriorate the uniformity of a pneumatic tire are provided. The apparatus extrudes a rubber composition at a surface velocity V1 in a top portion 28 and at a surface velocity V2 in a base portion 26, while forming the rubber composition in the shape of a filler portion 24 in a forming portion 40 by a truncated cone shaped extruding roller 38. The filler portion 24 formed in a curved shape similar to a shape of a side portion of a tire is formed due to the difference in velocity between the surface velocities V1 and V2. The filler portion 24 is successively joined to and wound around an annular bead core from a winding start end, and is disposed in the side portion of the tire after forming the bead filler.

  • Patent number: 6266378
Abstract: A data detector and a data detection method. The data detector includes: a converter for converting received data into digital data according to a sampling clock signal; a maximum likelihood decoder for performing maximum likelihood decoding on the digital data; and a generator for measuring a phase difference between the digital data sampled at a desired detection point among a predetermined number of optimal detection points of the received signal and each of a number of reference levels according to the predetermined number of optimal detection points. The generator further generates a control signal for changing the phase of the sampling clock signal according to the measured phase difference. The phase of the sampling points, as data detection points, is made to match the phase of optimal detection points, so that errors caused by differences in phase are minimized, thereby enhancing performance of the maximum likelihood decoder, and enhancing performed in the overall detection of reproduced data.

  • Patent number: 6263342
Abstract: A computer method and system capable of searching multiple heterogeneous datastores with heterogeneous data types by employing an object oriented data model to define a federated datastore object. The federated query object translates a generic query into the appropriate queries for each datastore, the federated datastore object acts as a virtual datastore for multiple heterogeneous datastores with the ability to map concepts between datastores, and the federated collection object represents results from a federated query in a hierarchy that maintains sub-grouping information from each datastore to allow accessing of results by datastore or as a single collection of results. The federated objects thus provide user applications with enhanced accessibility of different hierarchies of information, as well as more robust search capabilities.

  • Patent number: 6262775
Abstract: A caption data processing circuit in a decoder is provided for decoding a transport stream (TS). The caption data processing circuit extracts presentation information and caption data from an input transport stream and generates a control signal when the caption data of a one-picture unit has been extracted. A caption decoding portion of the circuit decodes the extracted caption data in response to the control signal. A buffer in the circuit stores the decoded caption data so that the presentation timing of the decoded caption data may be controlled based on the presentation information. As a result, the presentation timing of the picture data and caption data are exactly synchronized, thereby displaying the picture along with its correct caption.

  • Patent number: 6260457
Abstract: A cutter device for use in a printer in which a broad continuous printing sheet is printed and thereafter the printed portion of the sheet is cut along a width direction to be dropped downward to a tray. The cutter devise includes a cutter which reciprocating to cut the printed sheet in the width direction; and holding member for holding the sheet to prevent the sheet from dropping on a cutting start side of the cutter. The sheet is released from the holding member substantially in synchronism with the completion of the cutting by the cutter. Preferably, the sheet is fed a reverse in rewinding direction before the cutter finishes cutting to return to its original position, so that the cut end of a non-printed sheet is prevented from interfering with the returning cutter. The compactness of the cutter device is achieved and the sheet charging operations are facilitated.

  • Patent number: 6263082
Abstract: A pseudorandom number generation circuit 2 whose generation timings of pseudorandom numbers vary randomly is disclosed. The pseudorandom number generation circuit 2 includes a clock generation circuit 4 which generates four kinds of clocks, a selection signal generation circuit 8 which generates selection signals randomly, a selection circuit 6 which selects either one of the four kinds of clocks based on the selection signals, and a linear feedback shift register (LFSR) 10 which carries out shift operation based on the clock selected by the selection circuit 6. The LFSR 10 generates a pseudorandom number in response to the selected clocks. Since the selection of the clock is carried out randomly by the selection signal generation circuit 8, the generation timings of the pseudorandom numbers generated by the LFSR 10 are also random.
