    Abstract: An override device is proposed to permit the manual operation of a closure which is normally driven by an electric motor. The override device comprises a manual closure driving mechanism, such as a chain engaged around a pulley, which when operated first produces the translation of a first gear along its rotation axis until this first gear meshes with a second gear connected to the output shaft of the motor which normally drives the closure. During the translation of the first gear, a switch is tripped to safely interrupt power to the motor and a mechanism is operated to disengage the motor from the output shaft. Thereafter, further operation of the chain, and therefore further rotation of the pulley, is adapted to cause the first gear to rotate instead of translating, whereby the second gear is driven into rotation by the first gear thereby causing the rotation of the output shaft and the manual operation of the closure.

A crank handle having a crank web member is pivoted for rotation, at the end of the lever arm adjacent the handrail when the lever arm is mounted to the axle, such that the crank web member moves between a neutral position disengaged from the handrail and a forward position engaged with the handrail. A crank handle grip is mounted to the crank web member.

    Abstract: An upright support structure comprises a telescopic post having a number of longitudinally extending grooves circumferentially distributed on the periphery thereof for clamping engagement with support brackets having respective pairs of commonly operable groove engaging members. A locking device is operatively associated with the telescopic post to provide for incremental adjustment of the length thereof. This is useful when it is desired to securely mount the telescopic post between a floor and a ceiling structure. The post can also be mounted on a mobile base or, alternatively, pivotally mounted between a stationary base and an overhead fixture. Finally, the telescopic post is provided with an internal guiding structure to ensure proper alignment of the post segments forming part of the telescopic post.

Each point of adjacent ring elements is adjoined by a pair of diametrically opposed links, whilst the succeeding pair of adjacent ring elements is adjoined by a pair of links which are diametrically opposed and located at an angle of 90° to the previous pair of links.

A temporary staircase may be easily obtained with the present kit for use during construction, wherein a number of L-shaped steel step units are laid onto the step supports to form a successive series of alternating risers and treads. Then, these L-shaped steel units can be removed and replaced by finished steps of various configurations. If the staircase has an exposed side, a finishing stringer is provided thereat to conceal the structural metallic stringer.

The template has a plurality of groups of printed measuring indicia, each measuring indicia comprising a centering mark. The centering marks for each group have a predetermined spacing therebetween. The centering marks of each group may include numbers, colors or shaped symbols indicative of a repetitive measured distance from a zero reference point of the template. The centering marks also include indicia indicating the total distance the centering mark is from the zero reference point. The numbers are readable regardless if the template is secured on a horizontal or a vertical surface. In another broad aspect, the present invention contemplates permanently affixing the template, such as with printing, on building materials requiring measurements for integrating into the building structure.

    Abstract: A high-speed evaporator defrost system is described. It comprises a defrost conduit circuit having valves for directing hot high pressure refrigerant gas from a discharge line of a compressor and through a refrigeration coil of an evaporator of a refrigeration system during a defrost cycle thereof, and back to a suction header of the compressor through a reservoir of the refrigeration system to remove any liquid refrigerant contained in the refrigerant gas prior to returning to the suction header. The reservoir has an internal pressure which is generally at the same pressure as that of a suction header of the compressor thereby creating a pressure differential across the refrigeration coil sufficient to accelerate the hot high pressure refrigerant gas in the discharge line through the refrigeration coil of the evaporator to quickly defrost the refrigeration coil. The reservoir is repressurized after the defrost cycle for using the reservoir in a refrigeration cycle.
