Abstract: Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in a patient is treated by administering to the patient oxidatively stressed CLL cells. The CLL cells are oxidatively stressed extracorporeally, e.g. by subjection to oxygen/ozone mixtures, and preferably are simultaneously subjected to other stressors such as UV light. Preferably also, the CLL cells are autologous, and are contained in an aliquot of the patient's blood at the time of subjection to stressing.
Abstract: Disclosed are apparatus for screening compound libraries using frontal chromatography in combination with mass spectrometry to identify and rank those members of the library that bind to a target receptor. The apparatus of this invention also permit a compound library to be rapidly screened to determine if any member of the library has an affinity for the target receptor as measured by a pre-selected indicator compound.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a process for dissolving ruthenium deposits that are present on a surface and a process for decontaminating the internal circuits of nuclear fuel reprocessing plants using the said dissolution process.
The process according to the invention comprises bringing the said surface into contact with an aqueous solution of perruthenate, with the said aqueous solution having a pH equal to or greater than 12, so that the ruthenium is oxidised.

Abstract: The disclosed invention is a fixed bed ion exchange system from removing arsenic from water. It employs a combination of electronically controlled process steps and specific systems configurations to duplicate the effects of moving resin beds from one operating position to another as is required in moving bed ion exchange water purification systems. The invention combines features of single fixed bed ion exchange systems with those of a moving bed system.
