  • Patent number: 7013424
Abstract: A dedicated processor for efficient processing of documents encoded in a markup language, such as XML. The dedicated processor is capable of performing traditional parsing, transformation and manipulation processes on the document. The special purpose processor frees a general purpose processor to perform other tasks, resulting in an increase in system performance. In one embodiment, the dedicated processor includes a general purpose processor and suitable software which is provided in addition to the general purpose processor which has been traditionally used for processing. In such an embodiment, the dedicated processor may be implemented in a multi-processor system. In another embodiment, the dedicated processor is implemented in special purpose hardware, e.g. as an integrated circuit embodied in silicon in one or more chips. In either embodiment, the dedicated processor may be provided to offload processing locally or remotely.

  • Patent number: 7005454
Abstract: Polymeric drug formulations containing a non-releasing single-phase dispersion of a water-soluble drug in a water-insoluble tissue-compatible polymer matrix. Polymeric drug formulations are also disclosed containing a single-phase dispersion of a water-soluble drug and a water-insoluble tissue-compatible polymer matrix, and a second, phase-disrupting polymer that is non-miscible with the tissue-compatible polymer and is present in an amount sufficient to form phase-separated microdomains of the second polymer in the tissue-compatible polymer matrix, so that the release rate of the water-soluble drug from the tissue-compatible polymer matrix is related to the amount of the second polymer. Methods of preparing the polymeric drug formulations are also described, as well as methods for site-specific drug delivery utilizing the polymeric drug formulations.

  • Patent number: 6998475
Abstract: The present invention relates to variants of TRAF2 which demonstrate the ability to inhibit the TNF ? signaling path-way. In particular, applicants have isolated a splice variant of TRAF2 referred to hereinafter as “TRAF2 truncated” or “TRAF2TR” and a TRAF2 expression construct with enhanced dominant negative properties, hereafter referred to as “TRAF2 truncated-deleted” or “TRAF2TD”. Both TRAF2TR and TRAF2TD have the ability to inhibit the TNF ? signaling pathway and in TRAF2TD, this ability is greatly enhanced, greatly reducing the response to TNF ? binding.

  • Patent number: 7000183
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for viewer-specific presentation of information. The method includes a first step of receiving a request for information from a viewer. A viewer state associated with the viewer is then identified. The viewer state then provides a list of one or more data states in a ranked order of preference for satisfying a request for information for said viewer state. A data store contains data elements of a variety of data types, each data element tagged with a specific data type and data state. A collection of viewer-specific data elements is selected by searching the data store, and for each data type selecting the data element possessing the highest ranked data state specified by said ranked viewer states. The viewer-specific data elements are then presented to the viewer to satisfy the request for information. Accordingly, the present invention provides a method and apparatus for presenting to a viewer a viewer-specific subset of information.

  • Patent number: 6993850
Abstract: The invention relates to a measuring device, which allows the thickness of an elongated, panel-type workpiece, lying on a reference plane and traveling along the reference plane, to be continuously recorded. The measuring device is provided with a guide shoe, which is bath-shaped and open at the top and is pivotally mounted in a machine frame on parallelogram-shaped steering elements. A measuring roller, which projects slightly out of a cavity in a base section that runs parallel to the reference plane, is located inside the guide shoe. The measuring roller is supported in the interior of the guide shoe by rollers on both sides of the recess. The measuring roller is in contact with the reference plane and after a deflection of the guide shoe, comes into contact with the measuring surface of the workpiece, a measured value that represents the thickness being derived from the deflection.

  • Patent number: 6993949
Abstract: A pipe grooving tool is disclosed having a housing on which a back-up roller and a grooving roller are rotatably mounted. The grooving roller is pivotably movable toward the back-up roller and has a raised tool surface engageable with the outer surface of the pipe. The pipe is positioned with its sidewall between the rollers, and the back-up roller is rotated while the grooving roller is forcibly moved toward the back-up roller. A circumferential groove is formed around the pipe as the rollers traverse its circumference. A power drive shaft connected directly to the back-up roller is provided, the power drive shaft engaging a power drive unit on which the tool is mounted operated under power. A manual drive shaft is connected to the back-up roller through a torque multiplying gear and pinion transmission for manual operation of the tool.

  • Patent number: 6993848
Abstract: A pipe preparation device is disclosed for chamfering pipe ends and placing witness marks thereon to provide a visible indication that the pipes are properly engaged with a coupling. The device includes a body having co-axially aligned receptacles at opposite ends, the receptacles being sized to receive pipes having different diameters from one another. Cutting blades are mounted on the body and project into each receptacle. The blades have cutting edges that engage the end of a pipe inserted into a receptacle and cut a chamfer when the body is rotated relatively to the pipe. Two scoring tools project into each receptacle. The tools have contact surfaces that engage a pipe inserted into the receptacle. The tools in each receptacle are offset from one another and form two circumferential grooves around the pipe when the body and pipe are rotated relatively to each other. The grooves act as witness marks.

  • Patent number: 6996776
Abstract: A technique, system, and computer program by which content created from source files in a first data format and converted to presentation files in a second data format can be read and used by a subsystem which reads content in a third data format other than the first and second data formats. Identifying information from the source files and/or presentation files is extracted and stored in a map file in the third format. If desired, a Table of Contents (TOC) file in the third data format can also be created by using the map file and a TOC file in the second data format. The first data format can be Standardized General Markup Language (SGML), the second data format can be HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and the third data format can be Extensible Markup Language (XML).

  • Patent number: 6993713
Abstract: The present invention is a method, system, and computer program product for editing dynamic web content. In accordance with the present invention, dynamic web content, such as JSP files, can be edited using the concept of workspaces. This allows a dynamic content file to be edited without affecting its associated web site during the editing process. A dynamic content file, such as JSP file, is edited or updated within a workspace, while the original dynamic content file remains available to users outside of the workspace.

  • Patent number: 6991646
Abstract: Method and apparatus for delivering a stent, including, but not limited to, a self expanding stent, into a body lumen. The apparatus comprises an outer tube having a proximal end and a distal end and sized to hold a stent therein in a radially constricted condition, an inner tube within the outer tube and having a proximal end and a distal end, and a holding element comprising one or more inflatable balloons carried on the inner tube at the location of the loaded stent. The balloon can be inflated prior to the procedure so that the balloon presses against the inner surface of the outer tube trapping the stent in its longitudinal position between the inner and outer tubes. Accordingly, the outer tube can be slid proximally to release the stent or distally to retract the stent back into the delivery device without the stent inadvertently sliding.
