  • Patent number: 7191077
Abstract: An intelligent battery charger is disclosed which tracks usage of the computer by the user and the charging and usage habits of the user. This tracking includes dates, times, and elapsed usage time, as well as dates, times, and elapsed charging time. Parameters regarding the specific battery being charged are also known by the intelligent battery charger. This information is utilized to develop a usage and charging profile for a particular battery in the device for which it is used. To execute a deep cycle, rather than require that the user wait to plug in a charger until the battery level has reached a certain low level, the charger itself controls the on and off operation of the charging system, based on the profiles.

  • Patent number: 7189218
Abstract: A needle apparatus having a quick and safe release mechanism is described. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a separable needle assembly and a device body. The needle assembly includes a needle, an insertion member supporting the needle, and a knob projecting from the needle assembly. The device body includes a receiver member and is configured to receive at least a portion of the insertion member inserted therein. The receiver member has at least one slot configured to receive the knob when the needle assembly is inserted inside the receiver member. In a preferred embodiment, the slot has a first slot section extending substantially axially, and a second slot section at an angle to the first slot section and extending substantially radially. Upon insertion of the needle assembly into the needle holder, the knob is pushed by the technician through the first slot section, and then rotated in the second slot section to secure the needle assembly to the needle holder.

  • Patent number: 7185567
Abstract: A tool and a method for installing a sprinkler head in a threaded fitting of a fire suppression system is disclosed. The sprinkler head is protected by a cover. The tool is formed from an elongated body having a cavity that is sized to receive the cover. One end of the body interfaces with a wrench, the other end has one or more axially extending slots sized to receive the fingers of a torque plate affixed to the sprinkler head. The sprinkler head has a threaded nipple that engages the threaded fitting. The nipple is engaged with the fitting and torque is applied to it by engaging the slots of the tool with the fingers and turning the tool with the wrench. The tool has an external index allowing the sprinkler head to be angularly oriented to direct its discharge stream.

  • Patent number: 7185071
Abstract: Application configurations, including applications themselves, application components, and modules associated with the application are installed on an application-server machine and stored in system-determined locations. These locations, or absolute paths, are then stored in a “loose configuration”. As new versions of applications, components, and/or modules are installed, they are placed in unique locations and given unique version numbers. A record of each application configuration version is stored and is referred to as “snapshots”. These snapshots provide a record of and pointers to the various elements that make up the various application configuration versions, so that at any time, a current version of an application configuration can be “rolled back” to a previous version of an application configuration. The methodology can be utilized to provide a self-healing configuration, whereby a faulty version of an application configuration can be rolled back to a previous version automatically.

  • Patent number: 7181454
Abstract: A method and system for locating assets is disclosed that provides the capability for the gathering of information about assets contained in data repositories and the capturing of the gathered information in a database which can be used for the conducting of subsequent searches. By integrating into the system a series of data analyzers that are specific to each type of data contained in the repositories (e.g., a Java analyzer, a C/C++ analyzer, a COBOL analyzer, an HTML analyzer, and/or an XML analyzer) the system can be used to search the repositories using conventional keyword-searching techniques, as well as by searching for particular attributes specific to a particular language, or by combining keyword-searching with attribute-specific searching.

  • Patent number: 7180940
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and system for fast retrieval of the sequence components from phase, frequency and amplitude varying signals and synchronization therewith, and the concept of a system on a chip for power signal processing. More specifically, it relates to a method and system where the sequence components of a three-phase power signal are extracted and filtered in real time using a multirate phase-locked loop and a dual infinite impulse response filter with fault detection and reinitialization.

  • Patent number: 7180247
Abstract: A load control circuit enabling miniaturization of a brightness adjustment system. The load control circuit includes a variable resistor for generating a reference potential. A first duty signal generation circuit connected to the variable resistor controls a LED based on a reference potential. A second duty signal generation circuit connected to the variable resistor generates a second duty signal controls a lamp. The first duty signal generation circuit is configured so that the first duty signal changes differently from the second duty signal.

  • Patent number: 7179491
Abstract: Triglyceride oil derived from marine sources, mammalian and fish, is treated with a silica at relatively low temperature under vacuum and is then further treated with a bleaching clay under vacuum and at higher temperature. The silica and the bleaching clay are then separated from the oil. The oil treated by this method is essentially free of proteinaceous materials, phosphatides and mucilage, pro-oxidant metals and very low in colored compounds, and is suitable for deodorizing. The deodorized oil is completely bland, unchanged in the concentration of the long-chain highly unsaturated fatty acids (EPA, DPA and DHA), very low in color, peroxides and secondary oxidation products, free of pesticides and has very good flavor stability. The method avoids the use of any chemicals, such as in the acid and base treatments required in conventional degumming and alkali refining of oils of marine origin. This avoids the formation of artifacts in the oil and trace contamination with chemicals.

  • Patent number: 7179407
Abstract: A microcapsule composition comprising a core material in a matrix of polymorphic shell material, releases said core material in an aqueous environment in accordance with zero order linear release profile. A preferred composition comprises a core material having a degree of water solubility entrapped in a beta crystalline matrix of water insoluble shell material which matrix may, optionally, be surrounded by a contiguous core material-free layer of water insoluble shell material. Also disclosed is a process for the preparation of microcapsules comprising subjecting a flowable mixture of core material and a first amount of water insoluble shell material to a pressure force to form a pressure-treated mixture, and passing said pressure-treated mixture through a spray nozzle into a chilling zone to form a solidified composition.

  • Patent number: 7165311
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for attaching filamentary members to a substrate are disclosed. The substrate includes a plastic layer and the apparatus includes an anvil, a needle and a swaging tool movable relatively to the anvil. The method includes the steps of penetrating the substrate with the needle to create an opening, positioning the filamentary member in the opening, and compressing the substrate between the swaging tool and the anvil so as to deform the plastic layer and swage the filamentary member to the substrate. The needle is heated to melt the plastic layer so that it fuses with the filamentary member upon swaging. Motion of the needle and swaging tool is controlled by cams under the command of a microprocessor control unit. A substrate to which filamentary members are swaged is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7162838
Abstract: A constructional panel has a generally rectangular central section and two opposed end sections, each having an isosceles trapezoid part, its short edge conjoined to an edge of the central section and its long edge conjoined to a rectangular part, there being oblique edges extending between the long and short edges. The panel is thus bound by one pair of opposed edges of the central section, the oblique edges of the two end sections, one pair of opposed edges of the rectangular part and a further edge of the rectangular part opposed to that edge conjoined to the trapezoid part. The panel edges are configured for connection to the corresponding edges of like panels to build up an area of panelling. Projecting tabs from some edges are received in corresponding receptors on opposed edges and having lock arrangements, whereby the interengaged panels may be locked together.
