Abstract: A combination of bi-directional levels is provided as an integral part of the projecting terminal section of a very thin rule. Assembly within the rule section is accomplished by means of over-sized apertures to receive centrally disposed therein fluid level cylinders with a casting of transparent hardened moldable base material encompassing the rule, and interstitially surrounding said levels such as to form a capsular structure maintaining the rule in proper spaced relation for folding, in the instance of a folding rule, with a structural reinforcement for the section of rule supporting the levels.

Abstract: An improved third accumulator check valve is provided for the valve chamber which services feed oil to the release side of the intermediate servo cylinder of a turbohydramatic transmission system for motor vehicles wherein the intermediate band is released as direct clutches are applied. It comprises a positive seating valve in the chamber exhaust port, preventing exhaust port leakage which results in premature band application and clutch drag, and is characterized by a valve body which has more favorably disposed outer lift surfaces and an internal bore flow chamber with additional lift surfaces, said bore being provided further with a flow-released bore closure biasing the valve responsive to active flow pressure with assisted force into a continuously seated position.

Abstract: A fishing rod casting device for a disabled person is provided, comprising a base for attachment to a wheelchair with an adjustable holder for a reel and a casting rod member pivotally connected to said base. Calibratable biasing means are provided on the holder pivot housing to accommodate the strength of the operator in cocking and releasing the casting device, a support device is provided, for attachment to the usable body member of the operator, having an operating lever adapted to engage a cocking and releasing ring on the holder housing, to cock and release the same for casting. The same operating lever is used to activate the reel to draw in the catch.

Abstract: A single line deep-sea bucket and release is provided for mining operations and emergency fouling situations at extreme depths. A clamshell mechanism is provided with a bucket support frame and a hoisting frame with coupling means maintaining a fixed connection on descent. The clamshell, descending in the normally open position, is closed on ascent by an operating cable actuated to close by a measured withdrawal of the two frames and coupling means to which the actuating cable is fastened. Emergency shell release opening is caused by gravity force of a descending messenger on the single hoisting cable to trip a release of the coupling means and thereby the attached withdrawn operating cable to descend and open the shell.

Abstract: The apparatus comprises, in a knife, an auxiliary slitting blade carried in a recess in the butt end of the knife, the blade biased in a normally concealed position, with a reciprocally exposable cutting edge adapted to slitting in a transverse direction with limited penetration of the slitted surface.

Abstract: The apparatus disclosed includes essentially a cot structure comprising, in combination, a folding frame having a flexible cover yieldable to body contour, and legs supporting said frame in displaced relation to a floor surface; said legs having a spring cantilever configuration and torsion residing in a single continuous bar member with opposite ends adapted to be received and held by said frame member; sockets so disposed in said frame member adapted to slidably receive the opposite ends of said leg bar members such that downward force on said legs secures the same in said sockets in rigid mode relative to said frame; hinges longitudinally disposed along the siderails of said cot structure as part of the same frame, said hinges each having a downwardly disposed pivot with upwardly disposed engaging interfaces, said interfaces engaging in occlusive buttress contact to distribute downwardly applied weight in a resolution of coherent force moments in optimum relation about said pivotal juncture for occupant su
