  • Patent number: 4214799
Abstract: A feed-through connector is disclosed which allows the interconnection of adjoining electrical circuit modules, such as prewired wall panels, in any one of a variety of angular orientations. The feed-through connector is extremely simple in construction which facilitates its fabrication and assembly and minimizes its cost of manufacture. In addition, it can be conveniently incorporated into the vertical support members used in portable wall structures in such a manner as to increase the number of panels which may be assembled to a single support member and to optimize the variety of configurations in which the panels may be disposed. The connector includes a dielectric housing having at least one recess around its periphery and at least one conductive plate mounted within the recess, the recess and plate together forming a connector receptacle. The recess provides access to the conductive plate such that the contact elements of at least two modules can electrically engage the conductive plate.

  • Patent number: 4211001
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for automatically loading electrical contacts in the contact mounting pockets of a high density, multiple contact connector. The apparatus includes means for assembling the contacts in proper orientation for insertion into the pockets, means for transferring the contacts from the contact assembly means into an initial mounting position within the pockets, and means for seating and retaining the contacts in a final mounting position within the pockets. The apparatus provides structure to positively control the movement of the contacts throughout the loading operation to thereby minimize jamming or damage to the fragile contacts.

  • Patent number: 4210997
Abstract: An apparatus for simultaneously terminating a plurality of insulated conductors in the insulation piercing contacts of a multiple contact electrical connector is disclosed. The apparatus includes means for mounting a connector in conductor receiving position, means for aligning the conductors adjacent individual contacts of the connector, means for positioning the insertion tool adjacent the contacts, the insertion tool being movable in a non-arcuate path substantially perpendicular to the planes defined by the contacts of the connector. The apparatus will accommodate connectors of different transverse dimensions without the necessity of any adjustment and includes uniquely configured conductor aligning means which enhance and facilitate the terminating operations.

  • Patent number: 4148547
Abstract: A female electrical contact for making electrical contact with a mating male pin contact. The female contact is formed from a single piece of sheet metal and includes a pair of opposed contact leaves encased in the end of a tubular member of rectangular cross section. The tubular member has a closed end with a small aperture at its center, opening into between the two opposing contact leaves. The base for the contact leaves is U-shaped and has a pair of tabs which are bent to retain one of the rectangular faces of the tubular member in firm fixed position. The closed end may be concave to provide a camming action for the male pin to be inserted in the aperture therein. Additionally, a terminal strip portion can be provided extending from the U-shaped face to provide connection for an external conductor. Opposite sides of the tubular member can be foreshortened to bear against the two leaves to aid in biasing the leaves inwardly toward one another.
