  • Patent number: 6831352
Abstract: An improved lead frame structure for use in a semiconductor package, including: a plurality of leads; a paddle structure electrically isolated from the leads, the paddle structure including at least one lower paddle section having a first top surface to which a die may be attached, at least one mesa section disposed proximate the paddle section and having a second top surface disposed at a different elevation than the first top surface, the lower paddle section and the mesa section being joined by a wall section; and a plurality of tie bars attached to the paddle structure for supporting the paddle structure; whereby contact pads of a die attached to the first top surface may be electrically connected to the second top surface and to the leads prior to encapsulation thereof. A plurality of tie bars extends from opposite edges of the paddle structure, the tie bars providing for stabilizing the paddle structure during package fabrication.

  • Patent number: 6366167
Abstract: The present invention discloses a low voltage rail-to-rail CMOS input stage. The input stage includes a differential pail of P-channel metal oxide semiconductor field effect (PMOS) transistors, which produces differential output current signal. The input stage further includes a pair of N-channel depletion-mode metal oxide semiconductor field effect (NMOS) transistors, coupled to the bulk terminals of the differential pair of PMOS transistors, for receiving an input signal. The depletion-mode NMOS transistors further act as source follower devices to drive the bulk terminals of the differential pair of PMOS transistors.

  • Patent number: 6343129
Abstract: A sonic actuator including a multi-layer membrane having an elastomeric dielectric polymer layer with a first surface and a second surface, a first compliant electrode layer contacting the first surface of the polymer layer, and a second compliant electrode layer contacting the second surface of the polymer layer. The actuator further includes a support structure in contact with the sonic actuator film. Preferably, the dielectric polymer is selected from the group consisting essentially of silicone, polyurethane fluorosilicone, fluoroelastomer, natural rubber, polybutadiene, nitrile rubber, isoprene, and ethylene propylene diene. Also preferably, the compliant electrode layer is made from the group consisting essentially of graphite, carbon, and conductive polymers. The support structure can take the form of grid having a number of circular apertures.

  • Patent number: 6274509
Abstract: A method of planarizing a layer of dielectric material is disclosed herein that is particularly suitable for planarizing inter-layer-dielectrics (ILD) or inter-metal-dielectrics (IMD). The planarizing method comprises the steps of depositing a layer of sacrificial oxide over the dielectric material, depositing a layer of amorphous silicon over the sacrificial oxide layer by either sputtering or plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) at a temperature less than about 500 degrees Celsius, performing a first chemical-mechanical polishing of the amorphous silicon layer to form a self-aligned mask for a subsequent etching step, etching a portion of the sacrificial oxide layer to form a channel therein, and performing a second chemical-mechanical polishing to remove the remaining amorphous silicon layer and the remaining sacrificial oxide, and to substantially planarize the underlying dielectric material.

  • Patent number: 6275630
Abstract: An optical multiplexing and demultiplexing device including a fiber mounting assembly for aligning optical fibers, a set of collimating and focusing optics, a transmission grating element, and a mirror element. The fiber mounting assembly alignment element aligns a series substantially close-spaced optical fibers with their ends flush and assembled in a substantially straight line. The optical fibers are either multi-mode or single mode communication fibers capable of transmitting optical wavelengths with substantially high transmittance. The set of collimating and focusing optics, preferably a lens (or mirror) system that contains two (2) or more elements, may be made from optical glasses with uniform refractive indices, optical glasses with gradient indices, plastic optical elements, or diffractive lenses.
