  • Patent number: 5964007
Abstract: A method and cleaning system to clean ink and coating from contact cleaner rolls. The contact cleaning rolls are located on a turret and as one contact cleaning roll is indexed sequentially out of contact with the imaging surface and into contact with a porous material another contact cleaning roll is indexed into contact with the imaging surface simultaneously. The porous material has a non-alcoholic solvent applied to clean the contact cleaning roll surface upon contact. The components found to create an efficient cleaning solvent for the CCRs include aliphatic ketones and alkylene halides. The aliphatic ketones are alkyl ketones containing from about 1 to 25 carbon atoms (with a preferred range of about 1 to about 10 carbon atoms). The aliphatic ketones contain solvents such as methyl ethyl ketone (i.e. the preferred solvent), methyl ketone, ethyl ketone, propyl ketone and butyl ketone.

  • Patent number: 5819141
Abstract: An apparatus and method that utilize a sensor circuit and a liquid supply to control resistance of a fluid carrier of an aquatron. The resistance of the fluid carrier or charging pad is maintained by controlling the loading or concentration of liquid in the charging pad. A comparison of the fluid or liquid level in the charging pad to the desired fluid level for the charging pad triggers the addition or reduction of fluid to the charging pad to achieve the desired fluid level and thus the desired resistance. A minimum fluid carrier resistance is required to prevent loading the power supply when charging over pinholes and scratches in the imaging surface.

  • Patent number: 5778296
Abstract: A xerographic cassette for a printing or copying machine includes a photoreceptor drum, a cleaning blade, and a waste toner conveyor for conveying waste toner cleaned off the photoreceptor drum by the cleaning blade into the interior of the photoreceptor drum for storage. The conveyor includes a flexible helical wire which acts as an auger. A curved tube portion of the conveyor passes through an auxiliary waste toner container. Once the auxiliary container is substantially full, waste toner is conveyed into the interior of the photoreceptor drum. The auxiliary container is provided with an aperture which enables it to be emptied, thereby prolonging the useful life of the cassette.
