Abstract: Current control values are established for an electric motor including providing a table of motor current control values as a function of motor operating angle, providing a torque request signal indicative of the desired amount of torque to be supplied by the motor, and providing a torque command signal having a value functionally related to the torque request signal and a feed-forward torque signal. The motor operating angle is monitored and the motor is energized using current control values from the table in response to the torque command signal. The amount of torque ripple experienced by the motor is measured when the motor is energized. The measured torque ripple is filtered using a time domain filter and a time domain filtered torque ripple signal is provided.

Abstract: A vehicle includes an axle which is connected with steerable vehicle wheels and is movable relative to a body of the vehicle with the steerable vehicle wheels. A rack and pinion steering mechanism is fixedly connected with the axle and is movable with the axle relative to the body of the vehicle. A shaft assembly connects the rack and pinion steering mechanism with a vehicle steering wheel. The length of the shaft assembly can be varied to accommodate movement of the rack and pinion steering mechanism and the axle relative to the body of the vehicle.
Abstract: A printing press has a replaceable cassette removably mounted on a frame. An impression cylinder cooperates with a printing cylinder in the cassette to define a nip through which sheet material moves during printing on the sheet material. The impression cylinder is movable relative to the frame between a retracted position in which the impression cylinder is offset to one side of the cassette and a printing position in which the impression cylinder extends into the cassette. In addition, a manually actuatable mechanism is provided to simultaneously adjust the size of opposite ends of a gap at the nip between the printing cylinder and the impression cylinder.
Abstract: An apparatus (20) for inflating an inflatable vehicle occupant protection device (22) comprises a container (24) which defines a chamber (26). Inflation fluid and ignitable material are in the chamber (26). The container (24) has an opening (60) through which inflation fluid may flow to inflate the protection device (22). A rupturable closure (62) blocks flow through the opening (60) in the container (24). A projectile (120) is supported by the container (24) in the chamber (26) at a location spaced from the closure (62). An actuatable igniter (104) is supported by the container (24) and produces combustion products to propel the projectile (120) to rupture the closure (62). The combustion products are directed into the chamber (26) to ignite the ignitable material in the chamber (26) before the projectile (120) ruptures the closure (62).
