  • Patent number: 6441728
Abstract: A tire condition communication system (10) for a vehicle (12) that has a tire (e.g., 14A). A sensor (e.g., 74), associated with the tire (e.g., 14A), senses at least one tire condition. A memory (e.g., 70), associated with the tire (e.g., 14A), holds an identification. Transmitter components (e.g., 80 and 22), associated with the tire (e.g., 14A) and operatively connected to the sensor (74) and the memory (70), transmit a condition signal (e.g., 24A) that indicates the held identification and the sensed tire condition. A vehicle-based unit (28) receives the transmitted condition signal (e.g., 24A) indicative of the held identification and the sensed tire condition. An identification provision unit (e.g., 42A), located on the vehicle (12) adjacent to the tire (e.g., 14A) and having a location identification, transmits the location identification in response to a request. A communication portion (e.g., 48A) of the tire condition sensor unit (e.g.

  • Patent number: 6170861
Abstract: A head side gas bag restraint system for occupants of a vehicle having a vehicle compartment includes a gas bag, a receiving container for the gas bag, which container is to be secured to the vehicle, and an ejection channel for gas bag unfolding in the case of restraint. The receiving container has an outer wall, an inner wall facing the passenger compartment in an installed state of the system, and at least one flap which closes the container in a non-activated state of the system and which swings open in the case of restraint. The channel is formed between the outer and inner walls, the flap having structures arranged thereon. The structures have recesses or cavities and are plastically deformed by the impact of the head of the occupant.

  • Patent number: 6126241
Abstract: A buckle tensioner for a safety belt system has a buckle head, a drive device for displacing the buckle head, the drive device having an element which is driven in the case of restraint, a tension transfer means connecting the driven element to the buckle head, and an intermediate space between the buckle head and the drive device extending along the tension transfer means. The buckle tensioner further has a housing covering the intermediate space between the buckle head and the drive device and surrounding the tension transfer means. The housing is displaced relative to at least one of the buckle head and the drive device during the tensioning process.

  • Patent number: 6054927
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting the presence or absence of an object within a monitor zone includes a sensor (12) operative to sense a condition of the monitored zone (Z) and provide a sensor signal indicative thereof. The sensor signal is processed, preferably according to two different transfer functions, to provide first and second signals that vary based on the sensor signal. A comparator (46) provides a comparator signal that varies as a function of the first and second signals. Additional circuitry (58) is operative to provide an indication of the presence or absence of an object within the monitored zone (Z) as based on the comparator signal.
