  • Patent number: 7089839
Abstract: A method of, and apparatus for, transferring a web, in particular a paper web or cardboard web or an insertion tail severed from the web, from a web-discharging web-guiding surface, via a web conveying apparatus, to the next structural unit of a machine for producing and/or handling the continuous paper web or cardboard web, the insertion tail is detached from the web-guiding surface by way of at least one brief high-energy air jet. The present invention provides that in the case of a web of high grammage, immediately once the tail has been detached from the web-guiding surface, the tail, which has been severed at least on a preliminary basis, is completely severed by an additional mechanical severing arrangement and, by way of its newly formed start, gripped, and passed on, by way of the web conveying apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7077158
Abstract: A valve assembly includes a valve body configured to define a chamber forming a primary flowpath between an inlet port and a discharge port, an isolator disposed inside said chamber, and a poppet having a bore. The isolator is defined by a skirt and a stem, with the stem coupled to the valve body, and the skirt affixed to the stem. The poppet is disposed inside the chamber, and the bore is slidably received over the skirt. The isolator is configured to guide the poppet relative to the valve body, and the skirt is configured to shield the bore and isolate the poppet from substantially all of a dynamic pressure component of pressurized fluid when pressurized fluid flows from the inlet port past a portion of the poppet and then through the discharge port of the valve assembly.

  • Patent number: 7071480
Abstract: A material web attribute detection system with the material web having a first side and a second side. The system includes a radiation source located proximate to the first side of the material web and emitting radiation toward the material web, and a radiation detection array located proximate to the second side of the material web and producing a plurality of signals based on the radiation detected from the radiation source. A processor is included which utilizes the plurality of signals to determine a lateral offset and a gap size of the radiation detection array relative to the radiation source. The processor can then compensate for the radiation detection array and radiation source relative misalignment using the plurality of signals, the lateral offset and the gap size.

  • Patent number: 7056274
Abstract: A catheter assembly for use in radiation therapy of a patient by insertion into a vessel, passageway or cavity to deliver radioactive material to a treatment site within the patient. The distal end of the catheter assembly (10) includes a noncompliant inner balloon (18) therearound that is inflatable with a non-radioactive fluid (such as CO2 or saline or contrast medium), and an outer balloon (16) therearound that is inflated with radioactive fluid (such as radiogas like xenon-133 ) and is noncompliant to conform the vessel wall to the balloon's shape at the treatment site for optimal distribution of dose. The inner balloon allows reduction in volume of the amount of radioactive fluid necessary to achieve a desired dose. The inner and outer balloons (112,108) may be affixed to inner and outer catheters (104,102), respectively.
