Abstract: The invention is directed to a roll shake connected to a roll in a paper-making machine, wherein the roll is movable in a direction generally parallel to an axis of the roll. A first hydraulic ram assembly, including a first cylinder and a first ram reciprocally disposed in the first cylinder, is attached to the roll. A second hydraulic ram assembly, including a second cylinder and a second ram reciprocally disposed in the second cylinder, is rigidly connected to the first cylinder. A counter mass is connected to the second ram, and is movable in a direction generally parallel to the roll axis. A controller is connected to the first hydraulic ram assembly and the second hydraulic ram assembly. The controller independently controls reciprocating movements of the first ram and the second ram within the first cylinder and the second cylinder, respectively, whereby a resultant momentum of the roll and the counter mass is approximately equal to zero at any point in time.
Abstract: The invention is directed to a device for evacuating condensate from a rotary, steam-heated drying cylinder or the like, in particular the drying cylinder of a paper machine, having a plurality of grooves provided at the inner wall in the circumferential direction of the cylinder jacket, and a condensate evacuation pipe which may be associated with the grooves and which supplies the condensate produced to a collector and then to a condensate discharge pipe. The condensate evacuation pipes are fixed in the area of the associated grooves at a predetermined distance from the bottom of the grooves. A flexible connection element functionally connects the condensate evacuation pipes to the collector.
Abstract: The invention is directed to an apparatus for lifting and moving a barrel. The apparatus includes a frame which can be connected to a fork lift, at least one support member pivotably connected to the frame for engaging and supporting the barrel, a power source for selectively moving the support member(s) from a substantially vertical to a substantially horizontal position and vice versa, and an apparatus for removably attaching to the bead of the barrel.
Abstract: An end cap assembly for a fluid cylinder is disclosed. The assembly includes a pair of end caps comprising closure units closing the open ends of a cylindrical casing. Each closure unit has an axially extending annular skirt having an outer cylindrical surface telescope within an open end of the casing. The annular skirt has an annular barb radially projecting from its outer cylindrical surface. The inside cylindrical surface of the casing has an annular groove which receives the annular barb to axially retain the skirt within the open end of the casing. A retaining ring is provided within the annular skirt to radially urge the barb into interlocking engagement with the annular groove.
