  • Patent number: 4033948
Abstract: Certain members of the class of odd-numbered methine arylidene dye bases are found to be of use in thermally-developable photosensitive compositions and thermally-developable photosensitive elements containing such agents. These compounds are acutance agents which are relatively stable against photo-bleaching but undergo thermochemical bleaching on heating in silver salt-containing thermally-developable photosensitive compositions.

  • Patent number: 4031092
Abstract: Cyanuric halide is successively reacted with two moles of carboxy substituted aromatic amine and one mole of quaternizing agent such as pyridine and dissolved, e.g., in dilute ammonium hydroxide. At certain concentrations as the solution evaporates, it becomes nematic. The solution is evaporated on an oriented substrate so that the residue is anisotropic and is finally frozen in a resinous form which shows birefringence. The substrate and coating is valuable as a fractional wave plate.

Date of Patent: June 21, 1977

  • Patent number: 4028005
Abstract: A drum-type impeller for a centrifugal blower is provided with reinforcement against damage by centrifugal force at high peripheral speeds by reinforcing means such as gussets or rods running from the underside of each blade toward either or both of the hub disk and inlet ring and inserted near the attachment thereat of the trailing blade. Vortex formation at the underside of a blade inforced by a gusset is reduced by providing a notch at the point of attachment of the blade at approximately the same radial distance as the leading edge of the gusset. Vortex formation at the trailing surface of a gusset is relieved by using a double gusset with a slot between.
