Abstract: A vehicle anti-theft system is remotely operable and includes a pump fluidically connecting a reservoir of hydraulic fluid to a hydraulic cylinder of a vehicle braking system. The system further includes a pump control circuit that operates the pump to pump fluid into the braking system hydraulic cylinder to lock the vehicle brakes and to stop the pump as soon as the pressure in the braking system reaches a predetermined value. In one form of the system, operation of a remotely controlled switch deactivates the system and re-orients a valving system so operation of the pump drains the braking system by moving hydraulic fluid from the braking system back into the fluid reservoir. The pump control circuit stops the pump when pressure in the braking system drops to a predetermined level, and can include a timer to automatically stop the pump after a predetermined time of draining operation whereby the drainings does not deprive the braking system of sufficient fluid to operate in a normal manner.
Abstract: A shotgun, such as a pump shotgun is retrofit with a kit that neutralizes or counters the recoil associated with firing the shotgun. The kit includes either a mechanical system or an electrical system or an electro-mechanical system and is activated by sensors or elements on the shotgun to deliver impact energy to the shotgun in a direction opposite to that of the recoil energy and at a time that is selected to most effectively neutralize that recoil energy. One form of the impact-delivering system includes a spring-biased weight that impacts a stop on the shotgun, and another form of the system includes a solenoid-controlled impact-delivering weight. A third form has a spring-assisted plunger of a solenoid-controlled impact-delivering element. The sensors are connected to the impact-element releasing system by a circuit that can include a sensitivity setting element whereby a user can adjust the sensitivity and/or the timing of the system to meet his or her needs and to account for changing conditions.
Abstract: A Global Selection Decoder (GSD) device provides for a versatile channel selection function for hand held video remote controls which allows user programming of entries with alphabetic, numeric and special character entry code combinations that represent cable, broadcast and satellite TV's network names, station call signs or user defined codes along with its assigned video device numeric channel number. After programming, the user needs only to enter the Alpha/Numeric Code for the desired channel selection. This code is subsquently translated to its previously programmed assigned numeric channel number which is then transmitted to the video device. GSD's function is intergrated with and completely downward compatible with the current state of art hand held video remote controls for cable TV units, cable compatible televisions, video cassette recorders or players as well as satellite TV receivers and other video devices with numeric channel tuner capability.
Abstract: A system for supporting a bed ridden patient while that patient uses a bed pan includes a body-supporting section and a foot-supporting section which co-operate with each other to maintain a proper and desired relative orientation among the patient's legs, hips and spine. The body-supporting section is inflatable, and the fully-inflated height of the body-supporting section is greater than the height of the foot-supporting section to provide versatility to the system. The body-supporting section is coated with lubricant to facilitate sliding that section under a patient.
