  • Patent number: 7324648
Abstract: Rather than downloading each content document on demand from the publisher location to the user site, at the publisher location, each content document is encrypted and then multiple encrypted documents are assembled into a distribution archive that is itself encrypted with a scheduled key. The distribution archive is then downloaded into a content server at the user site. When the content server receives the distribution archive, it decrypts the archive file and unpacks the encrypted documents. The scheduled key used to decrypt an archive file is included with an archive file that was sent previously to the user site in accordance with the subscription service. The scheduled key to decrypt the first archive file sent to the user is sent from the publisher to the user over a communication channel different from the communication channel used to send the archive file from the publisher to the user.

  • Patent number: 7310638
Abstract: To efficiently process a parameterized query against a relational database in a streaming transaction processing system, the transaction stream is treated as a sequence of multi-record “chunks” and a single “quasi-batch” query is executed for each chunk. A specific table in the database holds the parameter values obtained from each transaction and the parameters are bound to the rest of the query by using a database join. Another embodiment uses a framework that automates the technique by accepting the parameterized query, identifying inputs and outputs, reading the stream for the parameter values and building the parameter table, converting the parameterized query into an equivalent query that contains a join against the parameter table, performing the equivalent query and inserting the resulting query values into the stream.

  • Patent number: 7299500
Abstract: At a publisher location, multiple encrypted documents are assembled into a distribution archive that is also encrypted. The distribution archive is then downloaded into a content server at an unsecure site. When the content server receives the distribution archive, it decrypts the archive file and unpacks the encrypted documents, which are then stored, in encrypted form, in a local document database. When a user logs into the local content server, a secure content viewer is downloaded to the user's browser. The content viewer requests a selected document from the local server, which then forwards the encrypted document to the viewer. The viewer then computes a document identifier from the encrypted document content and requests a key from the server with the identifier. The server then returns the requested key and the viewer decrypts that document and presents it in a display area controlled by the viewer.

  • Patent number: 7297942
Abstract: The invention relates to the cleaning of contaminated accelerating or guiding electrodes of ion sources used for ion generation by desorption. A cleaning plate is used that has an outer contour similar to that of a standard sample support plate, and may be equipped with cleaning scrubbers that can be moved out when necessary to contact the electrodes. The scrubbers may include soft covers, and can carry out the cleaning by dry rubbing or with the help of high-boiling solvents for the matrix substances. The moving out of the cleaning scrubbers can be controlled by external light pulses from a laser or video camera spot light. Alternatively, the cleaning plate may be equipped with spray nozzles connected to a reservoir of cleaning fluid which is sprayed onto the electrodes, and the evacuation of the ventilated ion source chamber may be used to initiate the spraying.

  • Patent number: 7295009
Abstract: A magnetic resonance RF coil comprises a conductive material deposited on a dielectric substrate. The conductive material includes magnetic field generating elements used to generate an RF magnetic field and interdigital capacitor elements. The capacitor elements are oriented parallel to the magnetic field generating elements and, therefore, to a main static magnetic field within which the coil is to be located. This orientation minimizes arcing resulted from emitted electrons and helps to prevent catastrophic breakdown of the coil.

  • Patent number: 7277953
Abstract: A method and apparatus for partitioning network data services among multiple subscribers uses information stored in several tables to define a plurality of independent networks where each independent network comprises a set of access ports and a unique set of destination addresses and is logically separate from all other independent networks so that no information can pass from one independent network to another independent network. When a subscriber makes a request to use an independent network, a subscriber key that is based on the subscriber identity and the network access port is used to determine whether the subscriber has permission to use the independent network. If the subscriber has permission to use the independent network, information retrieved from the tables is used to determine whether the source subscriber or a destination subscriber has control over the resource.

  • Patent number: 7271384
Abstract: The invention relates to the identification of substance ions, which are usually generated by electro spray ionization after separation by liquid chromatography or capillary electrophoresis, with the help of libraries with mass spectra. The substance ions are frequently formed not only in a protonated (or deprotonated) form but also as adducts with cations or anions, a fact which complicates identification. The invention involves making identification more accurate by additionally carrying out a determination of the most probable molar mass with the help of adduct patterns.

  • Patent number: 7247044
Abstract: A cable connector has male and female connector portions that slide together in a mating direction. The housing of one connector portion has a shoulder with a surface roughly perpendicular to the mating direction. The other connector portion has a resilient retainer spring attached thereto which extends parallel to the mating direction. When the connector portions are mated, the retainer spring has a finger which slips over the shoulder surface and is held in position by the resilience of the spring to provide a retention force that resists a separation of the male and female connector portions. However, the finger is shaped and resilience of the retainer spring is such that the finger will slip off the shoulder surface upon application of a sufficiently large separation force so that separation of the connector portions may occur without damage.
