Abstract: A clamp, detachably attachable to the upper edge of a vehicular window, supports one end of a swiveling arm. The other end of the arm rotatably supports a conventional platform for a spotting telescope, a telescope, or camera or other device. A handle extends from the platform for selective rotation of the supported device about the vertical and the horizontal axis. Thereby, the supported devise may be repositioned into or out of a vehicle and rotated about the vertical and horizontal axis to be aligned with the subject of interest.
Abstract: A method for mounting a prover and its attached motive means either horizontally or vertically as a function of the footprint available on the surface on which the prover is to be mounted. The method includes attaching the prover and its motive means to a lower framework. Attaching a plurality of stanchions to the lower framework. Mounting an upper framework on the stanchions. Adding a plurality of I-beams to the upper framework and to the stanchions to render the mounting for the prover rigid, whether the prover is mounted horizontally or vertically.
Abstract: A prover mounted upon a supporting lower framework includes a piston supporting rod extending longitudinally through a cylinder, which cylinder receives and discharges a fluid to measure the flow rate of the fluid by translation of the piston from the fluid receiving end to the fluid discharging end. Motive means supported on a frame mounted on the lower framework draws the rod toward the fluid receiving end of the cylinder. Upon such movement of the rod, a poppet valve formed as part of the piston opens to permit fluid flow through the piston. A clutch serving as part of the motive means permits travel of the piston from the fluid receiving end to the fluid discharging end of the cylinder and serve the flow rate measuring function of the prover. An upper framework is attached to the lower framework through a plurality of stanchions. Various I-beams formed as part of the upper framework enhance rigidity to the combination of lower framework and upper framework.
Abstract: This invention provides convenient airframe vibration and tracking improvements of a helicopter rotor blade by use of an elastomer profile system that is attached through an adhesive system that allows convenient removal and relocation for use by the helicopter manufacturer or by the helicopter operator in a field environment.
Abstract: A prover includes a piston supporting rod extending longitudinally through a cylinder, which cylinder receives and discharges a fluid to measure the volume and flow rate of the fluid by translation of the piston from the fluid receiving end to the fluid discharging end. Motive means includes at least one element for drawing the rod and piston toward the fluid receiving end of the cylinder. Travel of the piston in the direction from the fluid receiving end to the fluid discharging end of the cylinder is sensed at discrete locations to provide an indication of the quantity of fluid therebetween and the related flow rate. Each of a plurality of switches, linear encoder or laser detector provides position sensing signals reflective of the volume and rate of fluid flowing in the cylinder. These signals, representative of this volume and flow rate, are compared with preset parameters to determine the degree of equivalence. Thereby, self testing and validation occurs.
Abstract: A deposition system includes a vacuum reaction chamber with a substrate holder positioned in it. The substrate holder is for carrying a substrate therein. A sputtering apparatus is also positioned in the vacuum reaction chamber. The sputtering apparatus is configured to direct sputtered material towards the substrate to form a sputtered material region thereon. A plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) apparatus is positioned in the vacuum reaction chamber. The PECVD apparatus is configured to deposit a PECVD material region thereon the substrate. The first PECVD apparatus includes a first PECVD electrode movable from a first position towards the substrate and a second position away from the substrate.
Abstract: Mandrel supported IV tubing is inserted within a mold of a mold assembly to heat the IV tubing and form a tapered end of the tubing. The tip of the tubing extending beyond the tapered end of the tubing is severed by the mandrel bearing against the mold to lodge the tip in an outlet of the mold. Cooling air is introduced to the mold assembly to cool the mold and to create a flow of turbulent air about the outlet of the mold to extract the severed tips. The turbulent air is exhausted through a channel, pipe and fitting into a collection chamber and causes translation of the severed tip to and into the collection chamber. Sensors may be incorporated to sense the translation of the severed tips.
Abstract: A receiver extends from the top of a retractable wheel assembly to receive the lower end of a jackstand or the like. Upon exerting pressure on a foot operated plate, a wheel is extended from the bottom of a plate and locked in place with a catch to permit transport of a trailer or the like attached to the jackstand. Upon release of the catch, the wheel will retract to bring the plate into contact with the ground and immobilize the trailer.
Abstract: A low cost camera and radio frequency transmitter are detachably coupled to an endotracheal tube to obtain an image in real time of tissue at the distal end of the endotracheal tube. The image recorded by the camera is transmitted to a low cost radio frequency receiver nearby and conveyed to a video monitor to display the image. The use of a wireless transmission system avoids the presence of wires and cords that otherwise might become entangled and cause the endotracheal tube to be inadvertently repositioned or pulled out of the patient.
Abstract: An inclined support system for a drain hose enhances drainage of wastewater from a holding tank of a recreational vehicle to a disposal facility. The support system includes one or more sawhorse-like fixtures with legs having slanted lower edges in contact with the ground to provide an inclined drain hose supporting cross member. The legs pivot about the cross member and upon insertion of the drain hose intermediate the legs above the cross member, the upper ends of the legs bear thereagainst to define and stabilize the cant or splay of the legs. Upon removal of the hose, the elements of the fixture are foldable to a compact flattened configuration for storage. In another embodiment, one or more slotted cylindrical elements serve as a support for the drain hose. A plurality of pairs of descending length legs are detachably attachable within opposed channels depending from the support to place the support at an incline and enhance the flow of fluid through the drain hose.
Abstract: A storage system controller (302) includes a plurality of media controllers (301), a local microprocessor (306), and a host interface logic (310), operably coupled by a multi-drop bus. The multi-drop bus includes a control bus (324), a payload data bus (320), a real-time ready-status (data ready) signaling bus (322) and a general microprocessor bus (330). Each media controller has a storage media (311) operably coupled thereto. Each media controller includes a parameter storage (404), a media interface circuit (406), a control data state machine (408), a command sequencer state machine (410), a media-side multi-mode transfer state machine (412), a dual-port memory (402), a memory controller (420), and a host-side transfer state machine (430). The host interface logic and the media controllers are implemented in one or more Field Programmable Gate Arrays.

Abstract: A flood and combustion air vent includes a louvered panel supporting a rodent screen for placement across an opening in a wall or door of an enclosed space in a building. The apertures in the louvered panel and rodent screen are sized to accommodate ingress and egress of flood water at a rate of water flow sufficient to prevent destructive hydrostatic forces from acting upon either the exterior or interior surfaces of the wall. Additionally, the rodent screen will prevent intrusion of rodents, vermin and reptiles into the enclosed space.
Abstract: The invention provides for a system and method for locating concealed locations such as wiring, plumbing, or void locations with respect to a covering material like a wall. The system comprises a position indicating portion that is concealed on one side of a covering material and a position locating portion positioned on the opposite side and adjacent to the covering material. The position indicating portion is coupled to any structural member using a mounting mechanism, thereby establishing the location of a site by creating a magnetic field extending through said covering material at that location. The position locating portion comprises a position locating magnet while the position indicating portion comprises a position indicating magnet. The position locating magnet cooperates repulsively and attractively through the covering material with a position indicating magnet in order to locate the concealed site by substantially aligning the position indicating portion and the position locating portion.
