Abstract: A device and method can optically detect a defect of a round wire rod to be tested, and particularly, remotely detect the defect without contact in real-time. The device includes a lighting device for emitting circular surface light to the round wire rod; an optical sensor for generating an optical signal by receiving the light reflected from the round wire rod, which is being transported, and converting the optical signal into an image signal; and a signal-processing unit for acquiring surface information of the round wire rod by receiving the image signal from the optical sensor.

Abstract: A lighting fixture for use in video conferencing and general illumination includes a housing forming an interior cavity. The housing has an opening in a bottom portion thereof. The lighting fixture also includes at least one light holder for holding at least one light source positioned within the interior cavity of the housing, at least one diffuser plate positioned over the opening of the housing, and a plurality of louvers adjacent to the diffuser plate over the opening of the housing. Each of the plurality of louvers is positioned at an angle such that light produced by the light source is directed to a specific area.

Abstract: A rail joint arrangement comprises two rails. The rails have adjacent rail ends separated and thereby forming a gap. The rails have a top end containing a rail head and a bottom end. The gap is defined between the top end and the bottom end of the rails, and the width of the gap is non-uniform throughout its entire length. In addition, the rail joint arrangement comprises at least one electric insulator positioned within the gap. The rail joint arrangement is fastened together by a rail joint bar attaching the two rails together.

Abstract: An automatic strainer assembly for straining a slurry comprises an inlet for receiving the slurry, a horizontally disposed strainer body in fluid communication with the inlet, and a rotatable strainer member received within the body having an inner surface and an outer surface. The strainer member defines a plurality of passageways for strained fluid to pass therethrough. A scraper is positioned substantially adjacent to and contacting the outer surface of the strainer member for removing material from the outer surface of the strainer member. A collection vessel is positioned substantially below the body for receiving material scraped from the outer surface of the strainer member. A helical member is mounted on an internal shaft or auger is located within the strainer member for contacting the slurry to increase mixing and promote flow of the slurry through the system.

Generation of mammalian expression constructs of ?-CaMKll as a chimera with green fluorescent protein (GFP-?-CaMKII) or its mutants as described herein.

Abstract: A closure assembly is provided for a specimen collection container. The closure assembly includes a bottom ring and top ring assembly. The bottom ring is removably attachable to the open end of the container. The top ring assembly, which is removably attached to the bottom ring, includes a mounting ring and a pierceable, resealable septum that closes the bottom ring and permits pierceable instrument access therethrough. The container interior can also be accessed by the removal of the bottom ring from the open end of the container or by the removal of the top assembly from the bottom ring.

Abstract: A method and a device for casting a cast part from a metal melt. A casting mould in a pivoted mounting comprising a mould cavity shaping the cast part, a feed system and a pour channel, is rotated into a fill position and filled with metal melt. Due to the effect of gravity, the melt flows through the pour channel, wherein the main flow direction of the melt makes an angle relative to the acting direction of gravity. Filling is continued until the casting mould, including the pour channel, is completely filled. Then, the casting mould is sealed with a stopper and rotated into a solidification position, in which the melt in the feed system is pushed against the melt in the mould cavity. The casting mould is held in the solidification position until the metal melt has reached a solidification state in which the cast part can be de-moulded.

The first unlocking mechanism includes an internal control member for releasing the locked state from the inside of the door, and an external control member for releasing the locked state from the outside of the door.

The planetary transmission device, the speed range setting device and a forward-reverse changeover device are located forwardly of a rear end of an upstream transmission case portion. An electric motor may be used instead of the stepless speed change device.

Abstract: Provided is a method for preparing 60% or more cis-di(C4-C20)alkyl cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylate which exhibits superior plasticizing property for PVC resin. Instead of a phthalate- or terephthalate-based aromatic ester derivative, 60% or more cis-dimethyl cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylate is used as a starting material. The 60% or more cis-dimethyl cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylate is subjected to transesterification with (C4-C20) primary alcohol to prepare 60% or more cis-di(C4-C20)alkyl cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylate. Methanol produced as a byproduct during the transesterification is removed and some of the primary alcohol, which is evaporated, is recycled. Thus prepared 60% or more cis-di(C4-C20)alkyl cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylate exhibits superior plasticizer characteristics, including good plasticizing efficiency for PVC resin, high absorption rate, good product transparency after gelling, less bleeding toward the surface upon long-term use, and the like.
