  • Patent number: 7308080
Abstract: The objective of the present invention is to enable a speaker to visually confirm whether or not his voice has reached a listener. In order to achieve this objective, in the present invention, the listener terminal generates a reception result for voice data, and the talker terminal displays the reception state based on this reception result. It is a further objective of the present invention to enable conversational timing to be achieved easily. In order to achieve this objective, in the present invention, the talker terminal sends utterance data prior to sending voice data, this utterance data being shorter than the voice data. The listener terminal displays the talker terminal's utterance based on this utterance data. Another objective of the present invention is to deliver voice data from the talker terminal to a particular listener terminal only, without having to form a private group.

  • Patent number: 7304954
Abstract: A connection-trace standard is used to collect cell-drop information from switches in the path of a network connection in order to identify non-performing switches. Special codes may be inserted in the vendor specific fields of the trace transit list information elements of specified messages. These codes indicate that that cell-drop information is to be collected along with the trace. Switches that carry the connection may then read the codes in the messages and populate appropriate information into connection-trace messages. Eventually, cell-drop information from each of the relevant switches may reach the source of the trace. This information may then be accessed through a Management Information Base (MIB) or via command-line interface commands. This automates and improves the speed of identifying non-performing switches.

  • Patent number: 7300641
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for trapping ruthenium present in a gaseous effluent. The trapping method of the present invention comprises the use of an aqueous solution or slurry of an alkylene glycol polymer or an alkylene glycol copolymer, in which the alkylene(s) has (have) from 2 to 6 carbon atoms, in order to trap ruthenium present in a gaseous effluent. The ruthenium-trapping cartridge of the present invention has a surface (S) on which an alkylene glycol polymer or an alkylene glycol copolymer is placed, in which the alkylene(s) has (have) from 2 to 6 carbon atoms. The present invention makes it possible in particular both to favour the trapping and the chemical operation of reducing ruthenium oxide RuO4.

  • Patent number: 7298762
Abstract: A process and apparatus for sharing an upstream between multiple downstreams. A automatic discovery process carried out by the CMTS using ranging messages is used to build routing tables that define which cable modems are coupled to each downstream. The downstreams are coordinated in timestamps, MAP messages and UCD messages, and symbol clock frequency if synchronous code division multiplexed bursts are allowed upstream. Also disclosed is a flexible mapper/splitter/combiner that can electronically control switching, combining and splitting as necessary to couple multiple downstreams that share the same upstream onto the same optical nodes or split downstreams that share the same upstream among multiple optical nodes and combine upstreams from multiple HFC systems onto a single upstream input to a CMTS receiver so the CMTS receiver can be fully utilized.

  • Patent number: 7293284
Abstract: Peer-to-peer authentication may be accomplished by sending a digital certificate to a responder, receiving a randomized codeword in response to the sending, creating a secure fingerprint based at least in part on the digital certificate and randomized codeword, creating a first bit sequence based at least in part on a first portion of the secure fingerprint and a second portion of the randomized codeword and indicating the first digital certificate is authenticated based upon whether the first bit sequence matches a second bit sequence received from the responder via an out-of-band communication in response to the sending. The size of the first bit sequence is less than the size of the secure fingerprint. According to another aspect, the first bit sequence is compared with a rendering of the second bit sequence, using an out-of-band communication, by associating the first bit sequence with one or more indices into an array of representations.

  • Patent number: 7293281
Abstract: A system and method are presented for authorizing execution of requested actions transmitted between clients and servers of a data processing system. The method includes receiving a message including a set of actions and simulating execution of the set of actions. A list representing allowable actions and user-definable inputs to the simulated actions is defined. The list of allowable actions and user-definable inputs to the allowable action is then compared to user-requested actions and inputs. When elements within the user-requested actions and inputs are included in the allowable actions and input list, the user-requested actions and inputs are authorized for execution.

  • Patent number: 7287162
Abstract: A platform discrimination indication register is stored in a wireless network card. This register holds a platform discrimination indication that indicates whether the wireless network card can be used to transfer data with notebook computers or whether the wireless network card is restricted to transferring data from a personal digital assistant or defined set of restricted devices. The platform discrimination indication can be upgraded using a key value obtained from an Internet site. This key value is limited to a specific wireless network card because of the use of a unique electronic I.D. An Internet site encrypts the electronic I.D. to produce the first key, such as a platform activation key (PAK). This first key is then decrypted at the personal data device in order to obtain a unique calculated I.D. value. If the calculated I.D. value matches the electronic I.D.

  • Patent number: 7284318
Abstract: An apparatus for mounting semiconductor chips has a pick and place system arranged stationary in vertical direction for the picking, transport and placement of a semiconductor chip onto a substrate. The pick and place system comprises a bondhead with a chip gripper deflectable relative to the bondhead. The deflection of the chip gripper takes place by means of a pneumatic drive arranged on the bondhead which has two pressure chambers separated by a piston, whereby the chip gripper is secured to the piston. The pressure p1 prevailing in the first pressure chamber and the pressure p2 prevailing in the second pressure chamber are dynamically controlled by means of a regulator controlled valve system. The regulator can be operated in two operating modes. In the first operating mode, the deflection of the chip gripper and/or a variable derived from it is controlled based on the signal delivered by a position encoder which measures the deflection of the chip gripper.
