  • Patent number: 6825586
Abstract: A one-piece stator lead and terminal insulator for an oil cooled alternator comprises an arcuate plate having three cylindrical retainers positioned thereon for receiving stator terminals. The arcuate plate also includes three guides for guiding stator leads to the terminals. Furthermore, three rectangular holes are provided next to each of the guides. The rectangular holes receive insulating ties that encircle the stator leads and hold the stator leads to the plate, properly positioning the stator leads away from other conductors and housings within the alternator. Two flanges also extend from the plate to aid in assembly of the device and further act to properly position the stator leads away from other conductors and housings within the alternator.

  • Patent number: 6560584
Abstract: A method and apparatus for prediction of system reliability is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: (a) identifying the minimal path set of components which must function for the system to function; (b) constructing a minimal path set matrix by representing the minimal path sets as binary numbers in the matrix; (c) constructing a design matrix from OR operations on sets of columns of the minimal path set matrix whose results are appended to the original minimal path set matrix; (d) constructing a vector of ones having signs related to the position in the vector; and (e) calculating the system reliability from the design matrix, vector of ones and the reliabilities of each of the components of the system. The method of the present invention also determines the structure function of the system from the design matrix, vector of ones, and the states of the components of the system. The apparatus for performing the method of the present invention comprises a programmable processor.

  • Patent number: 6556199
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for voxelizing geometric and volumetric models of objects in 3D space, i.e. converting these 3D models into a voxel-based volume representation. Based on an unconventional way of using the 3D graphics hardware in modern graphics workstations, the present invention generates slices of the model as frame buffer images, and then stores the slices in a 3D texture memory for interactive volume rendering. Since most of the computation is carried out directly by hardware, the voxelization algorithms of the present invention are much faster than existing algorithms, and are able to achieve interactive volume rendering and manipulation of complex 3D scenes consisting of intermixed geometric models and sampled volume data sets (e.g. CT and MRI scans).

  • Patent number: 6527005
Abstract: An apparatus for diverting condensate which forms inside an exhaust system. The exhaust system comprises an exhaust side in which condensate may be formed, a suction side, and an exhaust fan between the exhaust side and the suction side and coupled to each of the exhaust side and the suction side to form a conduit through which gaseous fluid may be conveyed. A hollow tube having a first open end and a second open end is provided. The first end is coupled to the exhaust side and the second end is coupled to the suction side so that the hollow tube communicates between the exhaust side and the suction side in a manner bypassing the exhaust fan. A means exists inside the exhaust side for diverting condensate away from the exhaust fan apparatus. The means is positioned to channel condensate into the first open end of the hollow tube.

  • Patent number: 6423758
Abstract: A foam composition and method of making the same. The foam of the present invention comprises a mixture of glutarate ester plasticizer, adipate ester plasticizer, alcohol carboxylic acid ester, cell stabilizer, barium/zinc activator stabilizer, potassium/zinc activator stabilizer or zinc stabilizer, azodicarbonamide blowing agent, low-fogging vinyl dispersion resin, vinyl blending resin, and black acrylic pigment dispersion. The foam is made by the process of mixing the ingredients until a homogenous liquid mixture is present, de-airing the homogeneous liquid mixture, casting the liquid mixture on a non-fogging release-coated surface, expanding the cast liquid mixture by exposing it to an elevated temperature for a prescribed duration of time, and then either cooling the expanded mixture and winding it into rolls, or coating the stabilized composition with pressure sensitive adhesive, cooling it, and then winding it into rolls.

  • Patent number: 6362544
Abstract: A powdered magnetic material stator core with embedded stator windings and a method for its manufacture. Embedding the windings within a radially compacted powdered magnetic material stator core enables equivalent or better electromagnetic performance in a significantly reduced size. Radial compaction of the powdered magnetic material minimizes the distortion of the stator windings during compaction.
