  • Patent number: 5650026
Abstract: A plurality of treatment station includes a plurality of heat treatment portions and staging portions. The staging portions utilize non-contact temperature sensors to measure an intensity of infrared radiation emitted from a part to be heat treated. A plurality of wavelengths of infrared energy emitted from a part are read with the wavelengths used as inputs to an empirical equation to calculate an apparent actual temperature of the part. The staging portions and the heat treatment portions are shielded to prevent infrared energy from the heat treatment portion from interfering with the accuracy of the staging portions.

  • Patent number: 5509769
Abstract: A barbed light weight concrete fastener and plate comprises a fastener with a head and two bendable legs. Each leg has a barb and a bump protruding therefrom. The fastener is pushed through a base ply and into a roof deck of cementitious material. The legs diverge to capture a concrete wedge between them. The barbs dig into the concrete wedge to increase resistance to a pullout force. The bumps create pressure points with the cementitious material that further resist pullout. A plate may be interposed between the fastener and the base ply. The plate has a number of openings therethrough of relatively large area. The openings are filled with plugs of asphalt that adhere to the base ply. Pulling of the base ply is resisted by the plate acting against the shear areas between the asphalt plugs and the base ply.

  • Patent number: 4942610
Abstract: A capacitive structure, in which thermal stresses tending to delaminate its capacitive layers tend to be substantially relieved before such layers delaminate. The capacitive structure is divided into an upper substructure and a lower substructure, each comprising a plurality of capacitive layers, a separating layer being sandwiched between such substructures. The upper substructure comprises an underlying layer of dielectric material. The lower substructure comprises an overlying layer of dielectric material. The separating layer is provided by spraying a colloidal suspension of polytetrafluoroethylene in a liquid carrier containing a suitable binder onto one surface of one of such overlying and underlying layers. The separating layer bonds less aggressively to at least one of the substructures than the substructures would bond to each other if the separating layer were omitted.

  • Patent number: 4849853
Abstract: Improvements in a capacitive structure comprising a plurality of capacitive layers in stacked relation to one another with indentations along their edges. Similar upper and lower dielectric covers with beveled portions along their edges cover the uppermost and lowermost capacitive layers. Along each edge, a mass of conductive material provides electrical connections and covers the beveled portions of the respective covers as well as the edges of the respective covers and of the capacitive layers, so as to lock the respective covers onto the capacitive layers. The respective covers are provided with parallel grooves, which may be washed or flushed, as by means of pressurized air, so as to remove contaminants.

  • Patent number: 4673070
Abstract: A releasable assembly is provided for connecting a pair of bags in a side by side abutting manner. The releasable assembly is comprised of a flat female member and a flat male member. The female member has a bottom side affixed to one of the bags and a top side with an open faced rectangular groove defined by spaced apart channel members. The male member has a bottom side affixed to the other bag and a top side with an outwardly projecting tongue for sliding engagement within the groove of the female member. The female member is also provided with an integral catch at one end which is engaged by a pawl member located on one end of the male member to securely retain the bags in abutting relationship. A peg at the opposite end of the female member is engaged by a notch at the opposite end of the male member to limit insertion of the male member within the female member.

  • Patent number: 4474305
Abstract: A tamper-evident container is supplied which has internal ribs adjacent the upper rim. The rim is provided with an external upwardly opening trough. A lid for the container has portions interfitting with the ribs to secure the lid in place. A portion of the lid overlies the upper rim of the container, and a depending skirt on the lid extends down into the trough about the upper end of the container whereby the skirt is initially hidden and protected against lifting thereof to remove the lid. The upper outer edge of the trough is provided with weakened areas including notches and, optionally indentations below the notches to facilitate tearing of the trough wall in the direction of plastic grain of the container. Such tearing of the wall permits lifting of the lid skirt to remove the lid, and provides a quick visual check that the container has been tampered with.

  • Patent number: 4465180
Abstract: A multi-packaging device for creating a package designed particularly for an array of bottle-like containers. A relatively flat sheet member is configured so that upon association of the sheet members with the array so that as the necks of each bottle are forced through slits in the device, the device is stressed and resiliently deformed to create end, side, and central panel portions that conform to the shoulders and necks of the bottles, thus creating a highly unitized and stable package.
