Abstract: A variable speed drive apparatus having a pair of bevel pinions connecting a pair of bevel gears, the bevel pinions being mounted in a cage able to rotate independently of the bevel gears, which are connected to an input shaft and an output shaft. The rotational speed of the output shaft is monitored and is decreased if needed by retarding rotation of the cage in response to a higher than desired rate of rotation of the input shaft.
Abstract: A business model and method for providing and tracking embedded e-mail advertising, where the e-mail sender is compensated in an amount based on the volume of e-mail transmitted which contains embedded advertising.
Abstract: In order for diabetics to maintain appropriate blood sugar levels, this application will enable a person to determine the amount of carbohydrates in a particular food item in any restaurant. With the modern technology of applications for smart phones or hand held computer devices that can read barcodes, the information can easily be retrieved for appropriate use. Software can be integrated between the hand held computer device that will enable an insulin pump to automatically and accurately dose the appropriate amount of insulin that is required.
Abstract: The present invention provides apparatus and methods to facilitate allocation of find assets amongst asset classes including: equity inverse assets, precious metal assets, commodities and hard assets, international equity, international fixed income, domestic fixed income and domestic equity.
Abstract: A dynamic nasal molding device for presurgical molding of cleft lip deformities, the device having a pair of rotation assemblies each having an internal shaping member for insertion in a nostril and an external shaping member to be positioned external to the nostril, wherein the internal and external shaping members are progressively pivoted about the rotation assemblies, while simultaneously the separation distance between the rotation assemblies is decreased, to mold the nasal anatomy into the desired shape.
Abstract: An ear loop, and an assembly of an ear loop and ear bud, wherein the ear loop retains the shaft of the ear bud such that the position and angle of the ear bud relative to the ear loop can be adjusted axially and rotationally.
Abstract: Passive recovery of liquid water from the cathode side of a polymer electrolyte membrane through the design of layers on the cathode side of an MEA and through the design of the PEM, may be used to supply water to support chemical or electrochemical reactions, either internal or external to the fuel cell, to support the humidification or hydration of the anode reactants, or to support the hydration of the polymer electrolyte membrane over its major surface or some combination thereof. Such passive recovery of liquid water can simplify fuel cell power generators through the reduction or elimination of cathode liquid water recovery devices.

Abstract: A methodology, and related systems and structures for accomplishing the methodology, of biological remediation of hazardous or undesirable organic matter, wherein a plurality of carrier members are disposed in a localized retaining member, the carrier members releasing or exposing microorganisms to the undesirable organic matter on a staggered basis over an extended period of time, the microorganisms being capable of biologically remediating the undesirable organic matter by utilizing the organic matter as a food source, thereby converting it into environmentally safe bi-products. Carrier members containing nutrients necessary for the survival of the microorganisms and having release times corresponding to the release times of the microorganisms are also provided to insure that the microorganisms remain viable upon release.
Abstract: A lifting sling having warning markings that indicate if the maximum safe load for the sling has been exceeded, whereby a visible indicator is provided to the operator at the time of overload. In an embodiment, an externally visible releasable member retained by a frangible indicator member connected to the cover of the lifting sling is released upon breaking of the frangible indicator member to provide a permanent indication of sling overload.
Abstract: A catheter securement device that adheres to the skin of a patient having an epidural catheter or similar small flexible tube member inserted percutaneously, the securement device having a flexible, sheet-like main body member capable of adhering to the skin of the patient, a notched pad member over which the catheter is bent, an exposed portion of adhesive to contact the catheter, and a releasable retention member to secure the catheter onto the main body member.

Abstract: A wave responsive electrical generator device having a buoyant member connected to an anchor by a tether line member, the line member passing through a sheave mounted within the buoyant member and descending to a counterweight, whereby vertical motion of the buoyant member results in rotation of the sheave, which in turn operates hydraulic cylinders to deliver hydraulic fluid under pressure to an hydraulic motor, which drives an electrical generator.
Abstract: A game tracking device used in combination with a hunting arrow, the device having an elongated adaptor insert positionable between the arrowhead and shaft of the hunting arrow, the insert being provided with a recess to receive a transmitter that emits a locator signal. A barb member extends forward from the transmitter housing, such that when a game animal is struck by the arrow, the transmitter separates from the arrow and remains embedded in the animal.
Abstract: A paper web transfer tape having a cover flap joined longitudinally to a carrier member along the trailing edge such that the cover flap opens in a hinged manner to expose a pressure sensitive adhesive layer on the carrier member for adherence to an advancing paper web for severance and transfer of the paper web onto an empty spool. The transfer tape is adhered to an empty spool. The cover flap is opened by air resistance encountered during rotation of the empty spool.
Abstract: An engagement mechanism for a sternal clamp, the mechanism allowing for an open status where the clamp may be lengthened or shortened, a closing status where the clamp may only be shortened, and a locked status where the clamp cannot be lengthened or shortened, and wherein the device can be disposed in the locked status in differing overall lengths.
Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment of the present disclosure, a cable protector system is provided. The system includes a first component, the first component comprising a top surface, a bottom surface, and two opposing ends. The first component defines a channel extending between the two opposing ends. The system also comprises a second component, the second component being substantially identical to the first component. When the first and second components are coupled, each of the top surfaces are substantially co-planar and each of the bottom surfaces are substantially co-planar and the channels together define a single channel extending between the first component and second component. The channel is configured to receive at least one cable.
Abstract: Disclosed is a safety lancet assembly configured to pierce a patient's skin. The safety lancet comprises a housing and a lancet disposed with the housing. The lancet includes both a block and a piercing tip attached to the block. The lancet is disposed within the housing such that the lancet may move from a retracted position to the piercing position. Additionally, the safety lancet includes a use indicator to alert a user or patient if the lancet is currently in the retracted position or if the lancet has been previously released to the piercing position.
The cover flap is opened by air resistance encountered during rotation of the spool, by providing an adhesive tab member on the exterior of the cover flap that initiates opening upon adhesion of the tab member to the reel drum, or by providing a blast of pressurized air against the leading edge of the transfer tape.
Abstract: A system and method of testing the horn of a railroad locomotive wherein a fixed sensing station and a movable sensing station are provided adjacent a railroad track such that front and rear sensing of the horn decibels occurs simultaneously.
