    Abstract: A business form particularly adapted for use in a medical or hospital environment includes in a first embodiment a wristband assembly that is readily separable from a carrier comprised of a layer of face stock and a laminate, with the wristband including a printable face stock region die cut into the face stock and a strap portion, a laminating portion, and a cinch die cut into the laminate layer. The laminating portion includes two halves which fold together about a fold line to enclose the face stock, with the strap portion extending from one of said halves. The cinch may be located in one of two locations, either in an extension from the other side of the face stock or intermediate the face stock and the strap portion. In either case the cinch comprises a slot through which the strap portion is inserted and then adhered to itself after its length has been adjusted by the medical professional.

    Abstract: A business form particularly adapted for generalized use, although it may be used in a medical or hospital environment includes in a first embodiment a wristband that is provided with a face stock imaging area and an overlying laminate portion with each having one or more cinch slots through which the free end is inserted for securing the wristband about a person's appendage. The labels and the wristband may each be imprinted with identifying indicia such as bar coding and the form is laid out to be arranged in a continuous, relatively narrow, web for convenient processing through a thermal printer. A second embodiment of the invention includes a self laminating wristband similar in construction to other embodiments and comprised of a layer of face stock and a laminate, with the laminating portion having its overlapping half adjoined at the end of the first lamination portion instead of at its side.

    Abstract: A method and device are disclosed for an associative and approximate, analog or digital scanning of databases that allows for the asynchronous accessing of data from a mass storage medium. The invention includes providing dedicated analog and digital circuitry and decision logic at the mass storage medium level for determining a key identifying the data of interest, continuously comparing the key to a signal generated from a reading of the data from the mass storage medium with an approximate or exact matching circuit to determine a pattern match, determining a correlation value between the key and the data as it is read in a continuous fashion, and determining a match based upon a preselected threshold value for the correlation value. The pattern matching technique eliminates any need to compare data based on its intrinsic structure or value, and instead is based on an analog or digital pattern. The key and data may be either analog or digital.

    Abstract: A new process called “crossproducting” allows level 4 switching to be performed at gigabit speeds. In crossproducting, a database of routing filters or rules is “sliced” into columns corresponding to fields. Each column represents a set of prefixes or ranges. Given a data packet P, a best matching prefix or narrowest enclosing range lookup is performed separately for each packet field. The results of the lookups on individual fields are concatenated to quickly determine the earliest matching rule. The search can be optimized further through such techniques as removing default entries, creating multiple crossproduct tables, caching crossproducts, and early stopping, the latter optimization being made possible by recognizing that it is not necessary in all cases to search all columns for a match. The inventive devices and methods are applicable to various types of networks, including, but not limited to, the Internet and related types of networks, and telephone switching networks.

    Abstract: A beverage containing a mixed sodium potassium polyphosphate glass with a high potassium to sodium ratio and a low level of insoluble material is provided. The mixed sodium-potassium polyphosphate glass has the formula (K,Na)(n+2)O(PO3)n, and contains less than 10% by weight insoluble material. These materials are effective in controlling yeast, mold, and bacterial growth. The beverage comprises about 100 ppm to about 3000 ppm of a polyphosphate.
