Abstract: An interposer assembly includes an insulating plate with passages extending through the thickness of the plate and metal contacts in the passages. The contacts have resilient upper and lower contact arms that deflect into upper and lower recesses of the plate when sandwiched between contact pads of overlying and underlying circuit members. The recesses are sized to accommodate solder connections between contact arms and contact pads.

Abstract: A two flail rotary flail feeding device includes a head having an annular line storage cavity, a central post and an annular line feeding passage extending from the cavity to the end of the post. Two flail lines are wound in the cavity, extend through the passage and are wound in a coil around the post. The ends of the flail lines extend outwardly from the post to form flails. Adjacent flail lines wound around the post are connected to each other and move together during lengthening of the flails.

Abstract: A carburetor for supplying fuel to an engine includes a body defining a venturi and first and second fuel lines fuel lines which discharge fuel into the venturi from a fuel reservoir. The opening of the first fuel line into the venturi is near the wall to flow fuel into the air flow adjacent the body wall. The opening of the second fuel line into the venturi is away from the wall to flow fuel into the air flow through the interior portion of the venturi.

Abstract: A laser beam is directed onto a bonding surface of a steel tool body to form a molten melt pool. Particles of high speed steel alloy are flowed into the melt pool and melt in the melt pool. The laser beam is moved along the bonding surface to form solid lines of high speed steel laser cladding metallurgically bonded to the cutter portion at the bonding surface and to each other. The cladding is abraded to form the cutting edge of a composite cutting tool.

One of the surfaces is formed on a piezoelectric component that moves towards or away the other surface when a voltage difference is applied to the piezoelectric component. The coupling of the two members is adjustable by varying the applied voltage difference to increase or decrease the interference fit between the piezoelectric component and the other member.

Abstract: A bone cement mixer having a cartridge filled with bone cement powder and a monomer well for receiving monomer liquid to be flowed into the bone cement powder. The monomer liquid flows by gravity in a stream near the outer periphery of the bone cement powder. The stream penetrates the bone cement powder and forms a partial cylinder of monomer-rich powder essentially uniformly along the height of the bone cement powder. The powder and liquid are then mechanically mixed to form bone cement.

Abstract: A crimper for forming a finished crimped end on a wrapper for coins or other articles has a cylindrical opening for receiving a projecting end of the wrapper into the body. A crimping structure located in the opening includes a first slide surface for sliding the end of the wrapper in a first linear direction to a second of slide surface for sliding the end of the wrapper in a second, transverse linear direction. By sliding the end of the wrapper in the two directions, the end of the wrapper is forced to roll and form a finished crimped end.

Abstract: Case handling magazines and robot end effector for an automated storage and retrieval system in a warehouse include comb shelves for holding individual cases of goods. The case handling magazines are transported by conventional automated pallet handling stacker cranes and transfer cars. The magazine comb shelves and robot end effector have load carrying teeth spaced apart along the length of the shelves. The magazines include storage magazines for holding cases in conventional storage bays and transfer magazines for transferring cases to and from the storage magazines. The comb shelves of the storage magazines and transfer magazines are complementary with one another and enable the teeth of the comb shelves to intermesh with each other for transferring cases from a loaded comb shelf to an empty comb shelf. The robot end effector and some magazines include movable comb shelf segments that enable the selective transfer of all or less than all the cases on the loaded comb shelf to the unloaded comb shelf.
