  • Patent number: 7812622
Abstract: A fluid sensor is constructed to have a pair of electrodes whereas between electrodes there are not additional materials designated to adsorb analytes if their concentrations are high, or there are adsorbents if the analyte concentrations are low. An alternating current voltage of varying frequencies is applied to the electrodes of the sensor by an alternating current device. In return, it detects electrical properties such as impedance and its components, reactance, resistance, and phase angles of the sensor with analytes whereas the analytes reside in or pass through the electrodes at each frequency. Thus a spectrum of electrical properties of the analyte can be established at various applied frequencies. The electrical properties are analyzed by a pattern recognition process, and compared with those of the known fluids. Therefore, the fluid can be detected and identified. A reference sensor is provided with the same configuration of the fluid sensor.

  • Patent number: 7784157
Abstract: An apparatus which facilitates retaining a coil wire from a microphone onto a shirt. The device is used to retain the coil from a microphone to a location adjacent to a police officer's shirt. The microphone or other communication device has an alligator clip or other means by which it is clipped to a shirt. The microphone is attached to a coil which then is attached to a pack which is usually worn on the police officer's belt. The present invention provides a secure loop which is securely retained on the shirt and through which the microphone coil passes. As a result, when the microphone becomes dislodged, the loop provides a means by which the coil dangles from the loop and enables the microphone to remain adjacent to the police officer's shirt.

  • Patent number: 7755744
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of virtual tactile sensing, specifically to the field of virtual extension of the senses of the fingertips. Specifically, the present invention is the tactile transfer of environment information to the fingertips of the operator in the form of a line. The present invention senses information regarding distance, thermal values and optical spectrum values and conveys this information to the operator by means of mechanical movements and/or thermal changes of the actuators. These actuators are the equivalent of placing the operator's fingertips on the object. The device as a whole acts as an extension of the hand that senses information by placing virtual fingertips on an object and conveys that information to the operator's fingertips.

  • Patent number: 7736031
Abstract: The present invention is an improved lightbulb housing installed inside of a canister transversely affixed to a ceiling plate of a ceiling fixture, wherein the lightbulb used is a plug-in fluorescent lightbulb and the visual effect is modified to cause the visual effect to simulate a reflector lightbulb. The lightbulb housing comprises a hollow reflector, a frosted and translucent lens, and a top hollow cylindrical ring cover which receives a translucent lens. The hollow cylindrical ring cover is attached to the reflector and incorporates means by which it is attached to the interior of the canister. The frosted and translucent lens is sandwiched between a transverse interior shelf on the ring cover and the top of the reflector. A plug-in fluorescent lightbulb is installed into an electric plug within the canister of the ceiling fixture, however, because of the translucent and frosted lens, the plug-in fluorescent lightbulb is concealed and lighting effect simulates a reflector lightbulb.
