  • Patent number: 5727472
Abstract: Apparatus and a method for printing and drying layers of ink applied to the surfaces of sheets fed through a press and discharged from the press delivery end, without the use of powders, one upon another onto a stacker without off-set or blocking, comprising a plurality of stands, each having a printing portion for the application of a layer of ink to the sheets, and a drying assembly mounted after and adjacent thereto for drying each sheet and the layer of ink thereon within the press stand prior to passage therefrom. The drying assembly comprises an emitter-cooler that radiates energy toward each sheet to dry the sheet and layer of ink thereon and a gas conduit that directs gas from a nozzle toward each sheet and the layer of ink thereon contributing to further drying thereof and evaporation of the water vapor and solvents arising therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4533889
Abstract: A relay adapted to be mounted on a printed circuit board, and a method for mounting such relays. The relay includes the usual terminals (23, 24, 26 27, 28, 29) extending therefrom and adapted to be mounted on a printed circuit board (30) and electrically coupled to conducting paths on the board. In addition, however, the relay is provided with additional load terminals (56, 59, 62, 82, 92) which function as external connection junctions to connect the relay directly to the load being controlled via a circuit that completely bypasses the printed circuit board. According to a preferred embodiment, the relay includes stationary contact members formed to have not only board-mounted terminal portions extending therefrom but also external terminal portions for direct attachment to the load.

  • Patent number: 4527492
Abstract: A jig for use in stitching together two layers of material on a stitching line defining a corner. The jig has a lower plate (1) having a slot (4) through which stitching may be effected, the slot including at least one corner. An upper plate cooperates with the lower plate and a fulling plate (3) is positioned between the lower and upper plates and has fulling means (6 to 8) on its upper surface for defining pleats in a fabric layer placed over the fulling means. At least one of the fulling means has an upstanding, pleat-forming member (11) which is positioned so that the pleat formed thereby extends towards the slot (4) at a line that intersects the slot at a location lying ahead of the associated corner (13).

  • Patent number: 4510808
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for the continuous measurement of the bulk density of particulate material comprising an endless belt weighing conveyor having a compression zone and a weigh span downstream of the compression zone, means for feeding the material to said compression zone, a compression unit at said compression zone having a series of rollers an axes extending transverse to the direction of movement of the weighing conveyor, and transducer means provided at the weigh span for producing signals proportional to material weight. The rollers may be driven with a surface speed equal to the weighing conveyor belt speed and additional rollers may be mounted below the weighing conveyor to carry the load. The rollers are preferably embraced by a belt which gives a continuous surface and prevents tobacco getting between the rollers. In which case, the belt is driven with the same speed as the weighing conveyor belt, via a terminal roller and the other rollers follow.

  • Patent number: 4500266
Abstract: A linear peristaltic type pump capable of moving high viscosity material without creating an appreciable amount of heat includes a flexible conduit that is progressively compressed by a series of gear-driven compressing shoes that move linearly into and out of contact with the conduit by reciprocating motion, with a dwell time provided for each conduit compression event. A specific gear and linkage drive system is provided, including interengaged gears driving the compressing shoes via links on either side of the shoes.

  • Patent number: 4473017
Abstract: An apparatus for use with a sewing machine to automatically hem the free ends of tubular portions of garments. The apparatus has a guide cylinder with a stop and a tension cylinder capable of being retracted, both of which are mounted on the sewing machine with a folding guide which is moveable between a retracted position and an operative position. A tube connected to a source of compressed air assists in removing the sewn garment from the apparatus.
