Patent number: 6769516Abstract: An oil containment boot to prevent oil spillage during removal of inverted oil filter canisters and method of using same. The oil containment boot includes a peripheral side wall defining an open top end and an open bottom end. The open bottom end of the boot is operably sealingly secured over the oil filter receiving base such that the peripheral side wall extends upwardly a distance above the oil filter receiving base to surround at least the lower portion of the inverted oil filter canister. Upon removal of the inverted oil filter canister from the oil filter receiving base through the open top end, any oil in the inverted oil filter canister is contained within the peripheral side wall of the boot.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2002Date of Patent: August 3, 2004Inventor: Ronald C. Carlson

Patent number: 6748885Abstract: An agricultural seed planter and seed meter therefore, wherein the seed meter includes a rotary vacuum drum disposed within a stationary housing to entrain individual seeds on an annular circumferential periphery of the drum. As the entrained seeds rotate with the drum the seeds are singulated before being released from said vacuum drum. The seed metering and dispensing device is adapted to be mounted below the seed hopper to discharge the seeds into a seed tube as is conventional, or alternatively the seed metering and dispensing device is preferably adapted for mounting just above the soil surface and between the furrow opening assembly and furrow closing wheel assembly of a conventional agricultural planter such that the seeds are deposited directly into the seed furrow.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2003Date of Patent: June 15, 2004Assignee: Precision Planting, Inc.Inventors: Gregg A. Sauder, Kenneth R. Dill, Don L. Dunlap, Kenneth P. Sauder, Derek A. Sauder, Jeremy E. Zobrist

Patent number: 6745536Abstract: A tile support structure and method for finishing the ceiling of a building. The support structure includes a plurality of adjacently spaced elongated bracket members secured to a building's overhead framing members and a plurality of adjacently spaced elongated cross members disposed transversely to and supported by the adjacently spaced bracket members thereby defining a supporting grid for supporting a plurality of tiles.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2002Date of Patent: June 8, 2004Inventors: Van S. Tallman, Brooke L. Peterson

Patent number: 6738774Abstract: A method for uploading an agricultural operation's standardized data element values to a central database through an Internet accessible user interface and enabling users to benchmark the standardized data element values of one or more agricultural operations against the standardized data element values of other agricultural operations selectively retrieved from the central database by a benchmarking query defined by selectable attributes.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2001Date of Patent: May 18, 2004Assignee: Environmental Management SolutionsInventors: Daniel J. Uthe, Earl W. Dotson

Patent number: 6729249Abstract: An improved seed belt housing to reduce seed skip and method for same. The seed belt housing having a modified back panel with an area of impact absorbing material disposed at least in the area where the seed normally hits the back panel of the seed belt housing after being discharged by the seed meter. The impact absorbing material having the properties to dampen, absorb, or reduce the amount of bounce or ricochet otherwise experienced by the seed after hitting the back panel of the seed belt housing.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2002Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignee: Precision Planting, Inc.Inventors: Gregg A. Sauder, Kenneth R. Dill, Don L. Dunlap, Derek A. Sauder

Patent number: 6681931Abstract: A cable tie dispenser for holding a supply of individual cable ties and which allows removal of individual cable ties therefrom while firmly, yet removably, holding the remaining supply of cable ties. The cable tie dispenser includes members of compressible resilient material disposed within the dispenser case which compresses around at least a portion of the length of the cable ties sandwiched therebetween to maintain a firm and substantially uniform pressure on the cable ties. The compressible resilient material expands to fill the void left by any removed cable ties thereby ensuring that even the last cable tie remaining within the dispenser is firmly restrained and will not fall out of the dispenser until it is purposefully removed.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2002Date of Patent: January 27, 2004Inventor: Allen D. Finley

Patent number: 6681706Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlled delivery of seeds between the seed meter of an agricultural planter to an open seed furrow. Seeds are received individually and in a sequence from a seed meter into a housing. The seeds are conveyed in sequence through the housing by a conveyor at a controlled speed to a location proximate the open furrow, then gently released into the open furrow as the agricultural planter moves forward. The controlled delivery of the seed to the furrow ensures more accurate seed placement within the furrow at the desired seed spacing, thereby improving crop yield potential.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2002Date of Patent: January 27, 2004Assignee: Precision Planting, Inc.Inventors: Gregg A. Sauder, Kenneth R. Dill, Don L. Dunlap

Patent number: 6612378Abstract: A one-pass field tillage implement and method which maintains a uniform soil density throughout the crop root zone for greater root development, improved plant health and greater yields by eliminating tillage of the soil at seed planting depths. The implement includes a wheeled frame operably supporting at least three longitudinally spaced tillage tool assemblies which first chops crop surface residue, then aggressively lifts and redistributes the chopped surface crop residue and breaks up the soil surface crust, and then levels the soil so that the soil surface is substantially smooth and ready for planting, all in a single-pass without tilling the soil at seed planting depths.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2001Date of Patent: September 2, 2003Inventor: Gregg A. Sauder
