Abstract: A unidirectionally-energized brushless DC motor includes a disk attached to a frame, a plurality of plate-like permanent magnets disposed on the disk at equal intervals around the disk, magnetic cores fixed to the frame according to the plurality of permanent magnets, windings each of which is wound around the magnetic core and to which DC power is supplied, a predetermined number of magnetic cores fixed to the frame, and windings each of which is wound around the magnetic core and connected to a power consumption device. The permanent magnets are located such that an angle formed by a straight line passing through the center of the disk and the center of the permanent magnet and a normal line in the center of a magnetic pole plane of the permanent magnet ranges from 0° to 60°.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for identifying dimensions of shot subject, implemented on an identification system including a photo shooting unit capable of adjusting focal lengths. The method includes steps of using the photo shooting unit to focus on plural positions respectively having different field depths on a shot subject and respectively capture a image thereof, determining whether resolutions of the captured images are same, and if so, the shot subject is a two dimensional object, otherwise, the shot subject is a three dimensional object.

Abstract: Disclosed are various systems, methods, and other embodiments for the secure storage of files and the like. In one example, a determination is made in a server as to whether an entity indicated in a request received in the server is authorized to transfer a file from a client to a mass storage system over a network. A plurality of instructions are obtained in the server to send to the client, where the instructions are configured to control activity of the client in transferring the file from the client to the mass storage system over the network. The instructions are sent to the client in order to implement the transfer of the file from the client to the mass storage system.

Abstract: An exterior cover for a laptop computer having a display portion and a keyboard portion is disclosed. The exterior cover includes a first rigid planar element for placement on an outside surface of the display portion. The first rigid planar element includes a raised edge along a perimeter of the first rigid planar element, wherein the raised edge extends toward the display portion. The first rigid planar element further includes a plurality of tabs located on the raised edge, wherein each tab extends from the raised edge for gripping the display portion. The exterior cover further includes a second rigid planar element for placement on an outside surface of the keyboard portion. The second rigid planar element includes a raised edge extending toward the keyboard portion. The second rigid planar element further includes a plurality of tabs for gripping the keyboard portion.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for locating product references in community content. Character sequences (n-grams) are extracted from a page of text content. Each n-gram is evaluated as a potential product reference using a product catalog search for the n-gram or a conditional probability for the n-gram. The conditional probability is obtained from behavior-based search data. When the search was used for the evaluation, each n-gram is found to be a potential product based on results from the product catalog search. When the behavior-based search data was used for the evaluation; each n-gram is found to be a potential product based on the conditional probability exceeding a threshold.

Abstract: Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) microscopy systems, methods of making SPR microscopy systems, methods of measuring and detecting the presence of one or more compounds present in a sample using the SPR microscopy system, and the like, are disclosed. In an embodiment, a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) microscopy system can include an integrated microfluidic chip that includes a plurality of layers, an SPR imaging system, and a pressure manifold to actuate flow control components in the integrated microfluidic chip.

Abstract: A dual gate layout of a thin film transistor of liquid crystal display to alleviate dark current leakage is disclosed. The layout includes (1) a polysilicon on a substrate having a shaped of L- or of snake from top-view, having a heavily doped source region, a first lightly doped region, a first gate channel, a second lightly doped region, a second gate channel, a third lightly doped region and a heavily doped drain region formed in order therein; (2) a gate oxide layer formed on the poly-Si layer and the substrate, (3) a gate metal layer then formed on the gate oxide layer having a scanning line and an extension portion with a L-shaped or an I-shaped. The gate metal intersects with the poly-Si layer thereto define the forgoing gate channels. Among of gate channels, at least one is along the signal line through a source contact.

Abstract: Aircraft attitude systems are provided. A representative aircraft attitude system includes: a detection system operative to determine an attitude of an aircraft in which the detection system is mounted; a warning system operative to alert a pilot when the attitude of the aircraft corresponds to at least one predefined attitude parameter from a set of predefined attitude parameters, the predefined attitude parameters including pitch, bank and yaw; and a recovery system operative to provide progressive flight control positioning directives to the pilot for returning the aircraft to a flight attitude within the predefined attitude parameters.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments of systems, methods, and computer programs that facilitate haggling in an electronic commerce system. An average spread of a user is calculated, which is the average difference between an initial list price and a final transaction price among transactions in a transaction history. A rounds score is also calculated, which is based on the number of counteroffers extended by a user in the transaction history. A volume score is calculated and based on the volume of transactions a user has consummated in the transaction history. An abandonment score is calculated and based on the percentage of transactions the user has abandoned. A haggling rating is calculated and based on a combination of the average spread, the rounds score, the volume score, and the abandonment score, and represents an effectiveness of the user in haggling and completing transactions with other users.

Abstract: A method and system for a single chip integrated Bluetooth and FM transceiver and baseband processor are provided. The single chip may comprise a Bluetooth radio, an FM radio, a processor system, and a peripheral transport unit (PTU). FM data may be received and/or transmitted via the FM radio and Bluetooth data may be received and/or transmitted via the Bluetooth radio. The FM radio may receive radio data system (RDS) data. The PTU may support digital and analog interfaces. A processor in the processor system may time-multiplex processing of FM data and processing of Bluetooth data. The single chip may operate in an FM-only, a Bluetooth-only, and an FM-Bluetooth mode. The single chip may reduce power consumption by disabling portions of the Bluetooth radio during FM-only mode and/or disabling analog circuitry when performing digital processing. Communication between Bluetooth and FM channels may be enabled via the single chip.

Abstract: A method and device for adjusting communications power are used for detecting a communications condition between a connection port and a connection target, and a communications-supporting power of the connection port that includes at least one of a transmitting power and a receiving power is adjusted according to a detected communications condition. Therefore, accuracy of data transmission and reception is ensured, and power used for data transmission and reception is reduced.

Abstract: A receiver includes; a recovery circuit for receiving an input signal, and generating a data signal and a recovery clock; a processing circuit for processing the data signal to generate a processed signal; and a synchronization determining circuit for determining a synchronization state of the recovery clock according to the processed signal and a first reference value. The data signal includes a synchronous pattern, and the first reference value corresponds to at least a portion of a value in the synchronous pattern processed by the processing circuit. Abstract: A multiple-antenna transceiver in the present invention includes a frame controller and circuitry for transmitting and receiving. The transmitting component includes a sequence selection circuit, a MIMO modulation and coding circuit, and numerous TX RFE and AFE circuits. The receiving component includes a MIMO demodulation and decoding circuit, a sequence separation circuit, and numerous RX RFE and AFE circuits. The frame controller can enable and disable the TX and RX RFE and AFE circuits individually so as to reduce power consumption of the whole system.

Abstract: System and method for decoding digital video data. The decoding system employs hardware accelerators that assist a core processor in performing selected decoding tasks. The hardware accelerators are configurable to support a plurality of existing and future encoding/decoding formats. The accelerators are configurable to support substantially any existing or future encoding/decoding formats that fall into the general class of DCT-based, entropy decoded, block-motion-compensated compression algorithms. The hardware accelerators illustratively comprise a programmable entropy decoder, an inverse quantization module, a inverse discrete cosine transform module, a pixel filter, a motion compensation module and a de-blocking filter. The hardware accelerators function in a decoding pipeline wherein at any given stage in the pipeline, while a given function is being performed on a given macroblock, the next macroblock in the data stream is being worked on by the previous function in the pipeline.

Abstract: A USB connector cable includes a main cable having four separately formed wires, namely, a voltage wire, a first data transmission wire, a second data transmission wire and a ground wire, and a power cable having a voltage wire and a ground wire which are integrally and respectively formed with the voltage wire and the ground wire of the main cable. An electronic device is suitable to connect with a peripheral device and includes a circuit board, an interface and a load switch. The interface outputs a first current and at least one data signal to the peripheral device and the interface complying with a computer related standard defining a first current threshold. The interface located on said circuit board. The load switch connects to the interface and runs a second current to said interface. The load switch converts into a disconnected state while a value of the second current is excess than a second current threshold.
