  • Patent number: 6038721
Abstract: A system of padded covers that are attached to adjustable split bed rails, and which are pivotally engageable so that the bed rails may be adjusted with a bed without having to remove or reposition the bed rail covers. The bed rail cover system includes a pair of upper covers, which are mirror images of each other, so that they fit on the upper bed rails adjacent the head of the bed on both sides, as well as another mirror image pair of lower covers fitted over lower bed rails adjacent the foot of the bed on both sides. Each upper cover includes two sides having an upper end and a lower end. The upper end refers to the portion of the cover toward the head of the bed, and the lower end refers to the portion of the cover toward the foot of the bed. The lower covers each include a pair of longitudinal sides that form a slot therebetween, at an upper end. The lower end of the upper cover slides into the slot formed between the longitudinal sides of the lower cover.

  • Patent number: 5960615
Abstract: A swiveling wheel attachment for the front of a lawnmower, wherein the attachment includes a main body member having a rectangular side plate and a rectangular upper plate. The plates are formed at a right angle along a longitudinal side of each plate, so that the main body member is shaped like an upside down "L". The side plate defines a series of holes, or interconnected slots, which are used to connect the main body member to the front end of a lawnmower. The holes or slots are arranged in such a way that the height of the main body member may be adjusted relative to the lawnmower. The main body member is attached using threaded nuts and bolts. On the underside of the upper plate member, a pair of swiveling wheels are attached, so that the wheels may rotate in a 360 degree arc in a horizontal plane to facilitate maneuverability of the lawnmower.

  • Patent number: 5960471
Abstract: A protective garment for feeding, burping, nursing, and changing diapers of a baby, the garment having a main body member that may be secured about the neck and over the shoulders of a wearer, comprising an inner layer made from a waterproof material, such as vinyl, and an outer absorbent layer attached preferably on either side of the inner layer. The outer layer is made from soft material, such as cotton, fleece, flannel, or the like, which is suitable for soft contact with a baby's skin. A cloth member is removably attached to the front outer portion of the outer layer, and is used as a washcloth or napkin to clean a baby during or after feeding or burping. In the preferred embodiment, the front outer layer of the main body member includes a pair of pockets, having an elastic band about the top of the pockets for retaining baby bottles or other baby care items.

  • Patent number: 5916444
Abstract: A batch process for biologically cleansing water, particularly swimming pool water, by promoting growth of biomass therein, which causes a depletion of the nutrients necessary for future biomass growth. Nitrates are one of the key nutrients necessary for the perpetuation and growth of biomass, or algae, and the object of the process is to promote growth of the biomass until the nitrates have been depleted to an acceptable level. When the nitrate levels reach an optimal level, the biomass is removed from the water, without oxidizing or destroying the biomass, leaving clean water with low nitrate and nutrient levels. This process allows water to be cleansed of the very nutrients that are necessary for algae growth, making the water an inhospitable environment for algae and keeping the water clean and clear. Chemical treatments will require significantly lesser amounts of chlorine and other chemicals required to maintain clean, clear water, after the application of the instant process.

  • Patent number: 5806533
Abstract: A cigarette and cigar snuffing device comprising a base member defining a centrally located opening therein, and a vertical cylindrical throat member having an opening at an upper portion and an opening at a lower portion, which communicates with the opening in the base member. The upper portion of the throat member defines a pair of opposed grooves for use in securing a cigarette in a horizontal position therein while a smoker is otherwise occupied. The cigarette snuffing device is placed into an ash tray, the lit end of a cigarette is dropped into the opening at the upper portion, through the lower portion opening, further through the opening in the base, and comes into direct contact with the floor of the ash tray. A lack of oxygen quickly and efficiently extinguishes the cigarette.
