  • Patent number: 5056175
Abstract: In a floor cleaning machine with a driven brush roller, the invention specifies that the height of the brush roller can be adjusted automatically as a function of the torque. For this purpose, between the drive and the brush roller, a spring, which is tuned to the torque for the working phase, is employed as a coupling element. When deviations from the specified torque occur, actuating signals for an automatic height adjustment of the wheel are produced, until the specified torque of the brush roller is re-established.

  • Patent number: 5046435
Abstract: This invention describes a process and apparatus for the combustion of wastes, wherein the wastes are combusted in a combustion chamber and the temperature of the combustion chamber is controlled by changing the amount of combustion air as a function of the slag flow rate. The combustion can be carried out substoichiometrically in a reducing atmosphere because of additives which are introduced into the slag in the form of fine dusts. On account of the substoichiometric operation, the requirement for fluid wastes and/or supplemental fuel is drastically reduced, the capacity of the rotary tubular kiln is increased and nitrogen oxides formation is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5044612
Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning refractory-lined conveyor troughs for conveying molten metals and slags has a rail-guided carriage that extends across the trough and travels along the length of the trough, with a cleaning head supported by the carriage. Two wheels on the carriage travel along a guide rail on one side of the trough while a non-powered idler roller on the carraige travels along the other side. Lateral, opposed, rotatable guide rollers are provided on each side of the guide rail adjacent each wheel. Metal plates are situated in the floor beneath the guide rail, while small plates and/or shims are provided to compensate for irregularities between the guide rail and the metal plates.

  • Patent number: 5028245
Abstract: The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner having a removable or pivoting cover on the housing of the vacuum cleaner to hold a filter bag. In the cover, there is a sliding, adjustable guide element which holds a filter bag reinforcement plate having a filler opening. When the guide element is adjusted by an activating element, the reinforcement plate is locked with the cover by appropriate elements, and is engaged with its filler opening over a corresponding filler tube on the housing, so that the cover can be locked in the housing by the reinforcement plate.

  • Patent number: 5014965
Abstract: A process and apparatus to clean refractory-lined conveyor troughs for molten metals and slags by means of chains on a rotating drum. A motor is used to drive the drum, whose current consumption and/or speed are variable as a function of the load. Variation from a specified setpoint is used to cause a displacement of the rotating drum transverse to the conveyor trough, to achieve optimal cleaning of the trough wall, which is only effected with the desired distance between wall and drum and a load on the motor corresponding to this distance. The direction of rotation of the drum is reversible, so that when the two sides of the conveyor trough are cleaned, the material removed is thrown in the same direction, preferably towards a suction exhaust.

  • Patent number: 4955106
Abstract: This invention relates to upright vacuum cleaners which have a detachable hand-held vacuum hose as an ascending line. The hand-held vacuum hose is coupled to a hand-held vacuum tube which serves as an extension. • Patent number: 4942753
Abstract: In the fabrication of H-piles, I-beams, channels, tees, angles, double-tee structural shapes and similar rolling stock, a first structural shape segment or web is joined to at least one second structural shape segment or flange which may be bent outwardly. After the edging passes, during finishing, the flange or flanges are bent inwardly when the shape or stock is subjected to a final bending pass. A new bending method uses the principle of a three-roll bending process. An alternative bending solution includes a bending process with backup rolls for the first structural shape segment or web which do not touch the inner surfaces of the flanges or second structural shape segments.

  • Patent number: 4917772
Abstract: An oven door assembly of a shield-type construction for vented oven doors is achieved by ceramic barrier plates which can be produced in an extrusion process and which are mounted to supports, preferably in the form of cantilever beams fixed with one end to the oven door body and bearing clamps at the other end for clamping the ceramic barrier plates. Each ceramic barrier plate is replaceable and has grooves on the upper and lower side faces to receive the clamps. The clamps are constructed for clamping the ceramic barrier plates by pressure forces acting normal to the upper and lower side faces of the ceramic plates.

  • Patent number: 4893799
Abstract: Antivibration isolation device with hydraulic damping of radial elasticity, consisting of four concentric tubes bonded two by two to the elastic lateral walls, which by simultaneous fitting form two chambers connected by a long laminar passage for an inertial damping fluid, shunted by limited deformation of a thin membrane, to modulate the apparent dynamic rigidity as a function of the frequency. Process for the realization of such a device. The object of the invention is to provide antivibration isolation for machines or motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 4836271
Abstract: In a process for casting metal strip, in particular steel strip, the liquid metal is discharged from a casting nozzle which has the same width as the strip onto a continuously moving, cooled conveyor belt, and the plane of the nozzle mouth is set for the thickness of the metal strip to be cast, i.e. at an acute angle to the plane of the conveyor belt. To maintain the casting speed at the nozzle mouth on the conveyor belt, i.e. to prevent shearing forces of the flow layers and thus a speed profile with negative components, the invention proposes that with a conveyor belt running at an inclination to the horizontal in the casting direction, the inclination of the conveyor belt in the casting direction is set as a function of the casting speed, which should be equal to the conveyor belt speed, and as a function of the material parameters of the liquid metal.

  • Patent number: 4833115
Abstract: A ceramic catalyst carrier has a honeycombed structure which comprises a plurality of elongated parallel preferably square channels and thin, porous walls. The thickness of the walls is between 0.4 mm and 1.2 mm. The open cross-sectional area of the channels is greater than 80% of the total cross-section of the carrier body. Besides an intended low primary porosity, a secondary porosity is produced by an opening material. The pores of the secondary porosity which enlarge the active surface for the catalyst show a selected pore size distribution curve with negative skewness and a modal value ranging from 4,000 nm to 60,000 nm. The total true porosity amounts preferably between 50 and 70 Vol. % of the ceramic, whereby the ratio between total and secondary porosity is in the range of 1:1 to 6:1. By ceramic fibres the mechanical strength of the thin walls of the soft green clot and of the fired porous structure can be improved.
