Abstract: A seat for mobile material handling equipment which is movable between two different seating positions about a horizontal, transverse axis and is provided with a lock mechanism which securely holds the seat in either of its two positions.

Abstract: A reciprocating piston engine in which oil cooling is provided by a hollow oil jet assembly located accurately by a location tool and pressed into position in a bore in the crankcase of the engine. Accurately drilled and aligned jet passages are formed in the assembly which is then fitted into position with good accuracy to enable accurate direction of a jet or jets of cooling oil to a desired point or points on the underside of a piston.

Abstract: Backhoe swing apparatus including a backhoe swing bracket for supporting a backhoe for side-to-side swinging movement. A pair of hydraulic actuators are connected with the swing bracket for actuating the swing bracket in opposite directions. The hydraulic actuators are of the piston and cylinder type, and are controlled by a hydraulic system including a pair of hydraulic lines for conducting hydraulic fluid to and from each of the hydraulic actuators. A normally open pressure reducing valve in one of the hydraulic lines is operable to control pressure to one of the actuators to actuate the swing bracket in one direction and to thereby limit the pressure of fluid flowing to the actuator. Simultaneously, flow from the other actuator through the other hydraulic line is controlled by a first normally closed metering valve, which opens a permit such flow only when a predetermined minimum pressure exists in the other hydraulic line.

Abstract: A movable seat assembly which is supported relative to a vehicle by means of a support which permits the seat to be faced in opposite directions and in which the seat is pivotally mounted relative to the support to be disposed in selected positions of adjustment in either of its two facing directions and including a latch mechanism which securely locks the seat in either of its two facing directions or in its selected positions in a manner resisting loads placed on the seat and tending to cause pivotal movement of the seat or its support.

Abstract: Control system for a variable performance torque converter on a vehicle which has a number of auxiliary services such as brakes or cylinders served by a power source driven by the vehicle engine includes an actuator operating a control element on the torque converter in response to signalling means connected to the auxiliary services to proportion power from the engine between the torque converter and the power source for the auxiliaries.
