Abstract: A meter to measure the mass flow rate of gases passing through a flow tube, with the flow tube being incorporated as part of a flow tube assembly mounted for continuous rotation about a spin axis and simultaneous deflection about a measurement axis. Also incorporated as part of the flow tube assembly are counterbalance masses mounted so as to provide radial forces that oppose Coriolis/gyroscopic forces generated from the flow tube. The flow tube assembly is mounted for deflection about the measurement axis using low friction rotary seals. The deflections of the flow tube assembly about the measurement axis have a linear relation to the mass flow rate of gas passing through the flow tube.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a method and apparatus for teaching reading and spelling. Specifically, the invention delineates the rules governing the syllabic division and letter sounds of one, two, three, four and five syllable words. The method employs an unique system of integration of these syllabic rules, phonograms, four sets of consonant clusters and single consonants for teaching a learner reading and spelling with either a manual or computer program.
Abstract: A unique hollow fiber bioreactor system and method for the propagation of cells and the production of various cell propagation products is described. The system and method include the use of a flow block holder which allows a dissolved oxygen probe to be calibrated at the same pressure as the media in the bioreactor system.
Abstract: A device for selectively masking portions of transparent visual material to be projected by an overhead projector onto a screen including an opaque flexible sheet attached at one side to the overhead projector and at the other to a rod portion of a spool. When not in use the opaque flexible sheet is wound onto the spool. A portion, or all, of the transparent material may be blocked from projection by rolling the spool over the transparent material so that the opaque flexible sheet covers the undesired material.

Abstract: A spinal rod system and method for instrumenting the spine in the treatment of spinal abnormalities, in which a plurality of vertebra engaging means are provided for engagement on spaced vertebra, and the vertebra engaging means are secured on at least one elongate rod in axially spaced relationship, to impose opposed axial forces on the spine. In a preferred arrangement, two rods are used, and cross bars extend laterally between the rods to form a quadrilateral construct. The vertebra engaging means may comprise hooks, screws, or a combination of hooks and bone screws. Couplers are used to secure the screws and the transverse cross bars to the rods.
Abstract: An optimized Coriolis mass flow meter is disclosed which has improved stability to excitations caused by external influences. A primary source of improvement involves determining by modal analysis of the flow conduit a location for the sensor means that minimizes the influence of external excitation of one or more of the first in phase bending mode, the first out of phase bending mode, the first out of phase twist mode, the second out of phase twist mode, the second out of phase bending mode and the third out of phase bending mode.
