  • Patent number: 4726129
Abstract: The invention relates to a snow tiller for mounting on the rear of a track maintenance vehicle. The snow tiller comprises a tiller shaft and a tiller frame of at least triangular cross-section extending over the width of the snow tiller and having end plates for supporting the tiller shaft bolted to its lateral ends.In order to facilitate the maintenance of the snow tiller, the lateral ends of the tiller frame are provided with bars secured thereto in a V-shaped configuration. Secured to each end plate at its side facing towards the tiller frame is a pair of undercut bars in a V-shaped configuration for overlapping engagement with the bars on the tiller frame in the mounted state of the end plates. The undercut bars cooperate with a fixing bolt engaging the tiller frame to form an interlock clamp mounting arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4718730
Abstract: A cross-axis cutting assembly of a selective cutting machine is provided with internally-fed spray means. The assembly includes two cutting heads supported by a boom, the cutting heads being driven by a shaft which is transverse to the boom. A high pressure water supply line for each cutting head is provided by means of a connecting member. Each connecting member is arranged externally on the boom, is preferably designed as a channelled plate, and closely fits the external contour of the associated cutting head. Each connecting member extends to the free end of the shaft, and is connected to an internal high pressure water duct formed in the associated cutting head by means of a rotary arrangement. Each rotary arrangement has an axial pin which fits sealingly into a passage.

  • Patent number: 4718542
Abstract: To facilitate the fixing of attachments to the side walls of scraper-chain conveyors upstanding recesses are provided in the side walls in upper regions where the upper flanges merge with the side walls. The recesses, which can be milled, open from the upper flanges and have a depth less than the thickness of the side wall upper regions. The recesses are generally U-shaped as viewed from the exterior. The recesses are enlarged or undercut internally to be deeper all round so as to provide shaped pockets which exactly match the shape of non-circular heads of threaded elements which are received therein and fill the recesses.

  • Patent number: 4712663
Abstract: A viscous coupling for a drive shaft has an elongated tubular first shaft and an elongated cylindrical second shaft extending into and cooperating with the first shaft to define a cylindrical clearance therebetween. Bearings for accommodating both relative rotation and axial displacement of the first and second shafts are interposed therebetween at opposite ends of the clearance. Seals are associated with the bearings to hermetically seal the ends of the clearance, which is filled with a viscous fluid. The viscous resistance of the fluid to rotation of one shaft relative to the other provides a means of transmitting torque therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4666403
Abstract: A system for preheating air being fed to a continuous fired furnace by means of high temperature waste gases exhausted from the furnace. The system includes two pairs of interconnected regenerators. The regenerators of one pair are alternately connected by means of a reversing valve to an ambient air inlet and a waste gas exhaust stack, and the regenerators of the other pair are alternately connected by means of a second reversing valve to the furnace's waste gas outlet duct and combustion air inlet duct.

  • Patent number: 4663799
Abstract: Dust collection apparatus is disclosed adapted for both vacuuming and blowing/sweeping functions. The apparatus consists of a single, self-contained unit comprising a blower, a cleaning hose, an engine, a collecting area, inlet and outlet passages, and a switching valve which can switch the internal airflow so as to convert the cleaning hose from a vacuuming function to a blowing/sweeping function.

  • Patent number: 4651923
Abstract: A heat extractor system for a furnace, said furnace including a burner with a chimney that is connected but is normally not in operation. Instead, the furnace is connected to a vent in parallel with the chimney through a draft-inducing arrangement including a water spray in which water is heated and circulated to a point where the heat from the water is utilized. Due to the parallel arrangement of the vent and chimney, if the vent fails to operate, it will function in a fail-safe manner, with the combusted gases from the burner leaving through the chimney.

  • Patent number: 4644652
Abstract: A lopper has first and second pivotably interconnected blades arranged on opposite sides of a cutting plane. The blades have arcuate cutting edges defining a crescent shaped opening which maintains the same configuration as it gradually diminishes in size before eventually disappearing as the cutting edges bypass each other during a cutting operation. Preferably, one of the blade tips extends angularly away from the cutting plane.

  • Patent number: 4637807
Abstract: A universal joint has a cross formed by two mutually perpendicular pairs of coaxial trunnions, each pair of trunnions being rotatably received in bearings which in turn are coaxially retained in the bearing caps of one of two yokes. The yokes are subdivided into half sections which each include one of the bearing caps. The half sections of each yoke are separably interconnected with a juncture therebetween defined by confronting mating surfaces. Interengaging elements are provided at the juncture for preventing the thus interconnected half sections from shifting in relation to each other in directions which disturb the coaxial alignment of the bearings.

  • Patent number: 4635452
Abstract: A double-acting barrel lock and key in which the lock has a hollow plunger which reciprocates between a security forward locking position and a normal rearward unlocking position. The lock also has a lock pin coaxially mounted within the hollow plunger for reciprocating between a forward unlocking position and a normal rearward locking position. When a nail-type pick is inserted into the rear of the lock and drives the lock pin forwardly to its unlocking position, a spring urges the hollow plunger forwardly to its security locking position in which the locking balls are maintained in their outward locking position.A key has double-acting means for simultaneously maintaining the hollow lock plunger in its normal rearward unlocking position while moving the lock pin to its forward unlocking position, thereby permitting the locking balls to move inwardly to their unlocking position.

  • Patent number: 4634457
Abstract: An air cleaner for an engine is provided according to the invention. Said air cleaner comprises openings for communicating with atmosphere provided along a peripheral portion surrounding a suction chamber communicating with a suction port of a carburetor, a filter to cover said openings, a suction path formed along the inside of said openings, a partition wall provided to separate said suction path and said suction chamber, and a communicating path to provide communication between said suction path and said suction chamber so that the suction sound of the engine is prevented by said partition wall from propagating directly to atmosphere and reduced due to interference caused when passing through the long suction path which is located inside the filter, without reducing the area of the path through which suction air passes.

  • Patent number: 4630975
Abstract: A method for transporting particulates wherein the particulates are entrained in a transport air stream. An energizing air stream is introduced into the pipeline to form an air encasement stream between the inner wall of the pipeline and the transport air stream. The air encasement stream is introduced into the pipeline opposite directions to form a forward leaning movement of encasement air at a higher velocity than the transport air.

  • Patent number: 4630328
Abstract: For use in a doctor blade holder or the like, a self-compensating support element consisting of a hollow elongated flexible tube filled, except for the end regions thereof, with an incompressible liquid. Pliable inserts are received in the tube end regions, and tubular metal sleeves are swaged onto the tube end regions and the inserts received therein. The tube end regions are thus tightly clamped between the inserts and the thus swaged sleeves to seal against the escape of liquid from the tube ends.
