  • Patent number: 4469562
Abstract: An electrolyte anion exchange sensor having a first diffusion membrane is spaced apart from an anion exchange membrane to form a cathodic cell. A second diffusion membrane is spaced apart from the anion exchange to form an anodic cell. CO.sub.2 flows through the first membrane and is ionized. The bicarbonate ions flow through the anion exchange membrane into the anodic compartment and reacts to form CO.sub.2. The current change in the electrolyte path corresponds to the amount of CO.sub.2.

  • Patent number: 4466768
Abstract: An apparatus for manipulating a workpiece or the like comprising a pair of inger assemblies mounted on a common support. The finger assemblies have belts with contact surfaces arranged in a confronting relationship. A first operating mechanism is provided for moving the finger assemblies along a first axis towards each other to grip a workpiece between the belt contact surfaces. A second operating mechanism is provided for rotating the belts about the first axis in order to impart a corresponding rotation to the workpiece gripped therebetween. A third operating mechanism is provided for moving the belts in either the same or opposite directions in order to impart either translational movement to the workpiece along a second axis perpendicular to the first axis or rotational movement to the workpiece about the second axis.

  • Patent number: 4467349
Abstract: An apparatus to allow a prospective customer of articles of clothing to try on one or more articles of clothing without actually putting the articles of clothing on his or her person. This is accomplished by means of an electronically produced full figure image which is composed of the customer's head and a model's body, the model's body attired in articles of clothing to be presented. The composite image is viewed by the customer on a television screen and this gives the effect of the customer being attired in the articles of clothing presented.

  • Patent number: 4465167
Abstract: A clutch position selector valve for use with a transmission for an industrial vehicle. The selector valve selectively establishes communication between a fluid pressure source and a forward clutch chamber or a reverse clutch chamber. The selector valve comprises a valve body having an inlet port communicating with the pressure fluid source, a forward clutch port communicating with the forward clutch chamber, a reverse clutch port communicating with the reverse clutch port and a drain port communicating with a fluid reservoir, and a valve element selectively establishing communication between the inlet port and the forward or reverse clutch ports. The valve element is removably and reversibly disposed within the interior of the valve body and cooperates with a selector lever to shift the element between the forward and reverse positions. This reversible feature permits the operating lever to be located on either side of a steering column for convenience of operation.

Abstract: Apparatus for controlling the position of a mineral winning machine, such as a plough, movable along a guide at the mineral face side of a scraper-chain conveyor employs a connector bracket at the goaf side of the conveyor to which a floor-engaging skid plate is pivotably linked. A beam extends from a roof support and is also pivotably connected to the skid plate remote from the conveyor. A pair of piston and cylinder units are pivotably connected at their upper ends to the bracket. One of the units is pivotably connected to the skid plate and the other is pivotably connected to the beam. By operating the units together the skid plate can be held against the floor over part or all of its lower face while the conveyor goaf side is raised or lowered accordingly.

  • Patent number: 4458806
Abstract: A conveyor chain for a dishwashing system which chain includes a plurality of pinned links and travels on a conveyor pan and supports at least in part racks to be carried. The links are pinned for movement about a vertical axis (in a horizontal plane). Paired wheels are pinned to the links and lie in planes that form acute angles with the pan. This minimizes lateral sliding friction between the wheels of the links and the pan and therefore, wear, when the chain travels through a non-linear portion of the pan.

  • Patent number: 4459176
Abstract: A suction dewatering system for a papermaking machine has a suction device with an opening extending longitudinally in a direction transverse to the path of material travel through the machine. Elongated wear strips are supported on opposite sides of the opening to define a suction slot therebetween. A guide channel extends longitudinally through at least one of the wear strips in a direction parallel to the suction slot. An adjusting plate is shiftable longitudinally within the guide channel. Oblique cam slots in the adjusting plate coact with fixed guide members to laterally adjust the position of the one wear strip relative to the other wear strip to thereby vary the width of the suction slot.
