Abstract: A leak detection device is provided with an elongated handle having a head member disposed at one end. The device has a low profile for easy insertion beneath an appliance. The head member is configured to be easily oriented around wheels or other supports while positioning a testing arm below the water line connection. The device is adaptable for use with appliances having different configurations of wheels and can easily be reused. The function of the device lends itself to simple and inexpensive manufacture.

Abstract: A tie-down strap or chain anchor is described for use with a trailer or truck. The anchor includes a stem portion which is adapted to be secured to one side of the bed of the trailer or truck. A pair of spaced-apart plates are secured to the upper end of the stem portion and have a J-shaped receiver secured thereto and extending therebetween which includes an inclined portion and a generally U-shaped portion at the lower end thereof. The U-shaped portion has a slot or notch formed therein.

Abstract: A casket transporter which is positioned in a vehicle and which is adapted to support a pair of caskets on a lower deck and a pair of caskets on an upper deck. The upper deck is movable from a transport position to a loading position.

Abstract: A multi-person velocipede is provided with a pair of interconnected frame members. A pair of rotatable forward wheels are rigidly coupled to the forward portion of the frames, and a pair of rotatable rearward wheels are pivotably coupled to the rearward portion of the frames. Sets of pedals operatively engage the forward wheels to provide power, braking and turning operations to the velocipede.

Abstract: An ankle, leg and hip exercising device is disclosed which includes a parabolic-shaped base portion having a foot supporting and retaining portion at the upper end thereof. A plurality of pipe stubs are secured to the device which are adapted to receive weight supports thereon. At least one of the upstanding pipe stubs is designed to have a flexible tubular member positioned therein which extends upwardly therefrom so that the user may either resist the movement of the device in any of its 360° permissible movements, and also enables the user to cause the movement of the device in any of its 360° movements. The foot of the user is securely received in a recessed portion of the foot supporting and retaining portion to positively maintain the user's foot in the proper position. The device of this invention may be used while either sitting, reclining or standing.

Abstract: The filter system for filtering particulate material from a generally unidirectional fluid stream comprising a first filter removably positioned in the fluid stream and a second filter removably positioned in the fluid stream downstream of the first filter. The first filter comprises a pre-filter and includes a layer of fluid-permeable material having a plurality of spaced-apart openings extending completely therethrough. The method of utilizing the fluid filter system of this invention is also disclosed and comprises the steps of: (1) removably positioning a first filter in the fluid stream; and (2) removably positioning a fluid-permeable second filter in the fluid stream downstream of the first filter. The first filter may be removed from the fluid when it becomes restrictive to air flow. The system may be operated so that the air may be passed through the second filter until the second filter becomes clogged or restrictive to air flow.

Abstract: A dispensing system for use on a liquid container such as a bottle or the like for dispensing the liquid contents from the bottle. The outlet opening of the container is closed by a throat plug assembly having a valve positioned therein which is open when the container is mounted in a dispensing fixture which is closed when the container is not mounted on the dispensing system. The throat plug assembly also includes a specifically shaped valve which is opened slightly when the container is being stored or transported to vent vapor pressure from within the container should the same be necessary.

Abstract: A breakaway coupling for a light pole or the like is disclosed and is utilized on each of the anchor bolts of the foundation for the pole. Each of the couplings comprises a metal coupling nut which has a plurality of radially spaced-apart and vertically disposed slits formed therein which extend thereinto to create weakened areas or zones in the coupling nut. The coupling nut is embedded in a fiber-reinforced material which provides the necessary hoop strength to the coupling nut. The base plate of the pole is positioned on the upper ends of the coupling nuts and is secured thereto by bolts extending downwardly through the base plate of the pole. If the pole is struck by a vehicle, the fiber-reinforced body members, as well as the coupling nuts, fracture to permit the pole to break away from the foundation. The fiber-reinforced body member of the coupling not only adds hoop strength to the coupling nut, but prevents the metal coupling nut from being exposed to corrosive elements such as salt or the like.

Abstract: A powered, lightweight soil tillage device, including an elongated hollow support member having a motor and handle at the upper end thereof, and the tillage assembly mounted at the lower end thereof. The tillage assembly comprises a pair of beams which are mounted on opposite sides of a gearbox and driven thereby. The upper ends of the beams are attached to idler or rocker beams so that each of the beams is moved in a generally circular path. Hoe blades or the like are secured to the forward ends of the beams and extend inwardly therefrom so that the hoe blades are disposed one behind the other.

Abstract: An on-line respirometer and method for using the same is disclosed for determining the oxygen uptake of respiring samples. An overflow drain in the side portion of an enclosed reaction vessel is located to define an operational volume of slurry sample and headspace gases. The slurry sample is agitated using a mixer and/or a pump which recirculates the headspace gases through the slurry. Oxygen probes inserted into the headspace and the slurry sample determine the level of dissolved oxygen within the slurry sample and the headspace. The fixed ratio of available oxygen to oxygen demand is sufficient to measure the oxygen uptake directly, without the need for oxygen supplementation, for simple, fast and accurate analysis.

Abstract: A method and means for reducing stress in a pivot irrigation pipeline by permitting the pipeline to be separated from the center pivot structure while maintaining the pipeline in alignment with the center pivot structure. The alignment assembly of this invention facilitates the reconnection of the pipeline to the center pivot structure when the irrigation system is going to be used to irrigate.

Abstract: A drink holder for disabled persons with the holder being adapted to be secured to a chair, wheelchair, bed, wall, etc. A cup holder is mounted to the outer end of an articulated arm assembly with the assembly being adjustable to properly position the cup holder. When a cup or glass is placed in the cup holder, a disabled person may move his or her head to gain access to the straw extending from the cup or glass in the cup holder.

Abstract: An improved tool is provided for locating the corner or edge of a workpiece while setting the workpiece at a desired angle with respect to a work surface. An elongated arm member slidably engages an elongated base member at one end, allowing for the measurement of the distance between the opposite end portions of the arm and base member and calculation of the angle at which the workpiece is disposed. The base member is provided with generally opposing first and second mating surfaces for locating the corner or edge of the workpiece. Different embodiments are provided for use in finding edges of workpieces having various angles. Different embodiments further provide for the use of multiple measuring instrumentalities and calculations.

Abstract: A disk to be installed on a dumbbell around the middle bar and adjacent the weight at one end to protect the user's hand(s) from contact with the weight. A slot allows the disk to be installed without removing the weights. A cavity on the weight side of the disk provides clearance for the shoulder or collar which hold the weights in position on some dumbbells. The inner surface of the disk is convex while the outer is generally planar to lie flat against the weights.

Abstract: A nozzle for use in treating waste water is provided with a hollow body member having fluid inlets and outlets. A glide tube having a tapered interior is positioned within the body member. A boulet is positioned within the glide tube to form a pressure drop zone and an expansion zone between the glide tube and the boulet. The fluid inlet receives highly or super-saturated liquid from which micro bubbles of gas are produced within the pressure drop and expansion zones. The fluid outlet discharges the liquid and micro bubbles to a desired point of use.

Abstract: An apparatus for mounting a wind turbine on the upper end of a wind turbine tower is disclosed as well as the method of erecting the same. The tower is provided with a pair of spaced-apart guide rails positioned at one side thereof which extend from the lower end to the upper end of the tower. A carriage is movably mounted on the guide rails and has a platform pivotally mounted thereon adapted to support the wind turbine thereon. The carriage positions the wind turbine so that the spinner/hub and rotor blades may be secured thereto while the wind turbine is at the lower end of the tower and provides a means for slidably moving the wind turbine from the carriage to the upper end of the tower when the carriage has been winched to the upper end of the tower.

Abstract: A saturation vessel for treating waste water is provided with a hollow body member having a fluid inlet and outlet. A plurality of diffuser plates are positioned one above the other within the body member. A perforated screen member surrounds the diffuser plates. Waste water engages the diffuser plates and the screen to increase the saturation level of air within the waste water. The fluid outlet discharges the air-saturated water to a desired location. The level of waste water agitation is varied by changing the shape and configuration of the diffuser plates and screen member.
