  • Patent number: 7789515
Abstract: A folded projection display system includes a wire-grid polarizer placed immediately behind the system's imaging screen. The display system includes an image projector that projects an image beam containing light of a predetermined linear polarization toward the imaging screen. The wire-grid polarizer reflects the light in the image beam away from the screen. The reflected image beam then encounters a ¼-wavelength achromatic retarder that converts the linear polarization to circular polarization. The image beam next hits a mirror that reflects the light back through the ¼-wavelength achromatic retarder, which converts the circular polarization back to linear polarization, with the polarization director rotated 90 degrees from the original polarization direction. The wire-grid polarizer then allows the light to pass through to the image screen.

  • Patent number: 7787567
Abstract: Beamforming is provided for a wireless MIMO device by using antenna puncturing to reduce the number of transmit antennas that are used to transmit data for certain subcarriers. In a conventional approach, if N spatial streams are being used to provide spatial multiplexing, then N transmit antennas would be used to transmit for each subcarrier. In at least one embodiment of the invention, enhancements in channel capacity are achieved by using less than N transmit antennas for one or more subcarriers.

  • Patent number: RE41793
Abstract: A bracket assembly for mounting a reed switch and associated magnet on an overhead opening door includes first and second interlocking pieces, both of which are stamped from sheet metal that is, preferably, non-ferromagnetic. Each of the pieces incorporates an opening sized to slidably receive a locking door bolt fabricated from a ferromagnetic material such as mild or hardened steel. For a currently preferred embodiment of the invention, both pieces of the bracket assembly are stamped from sheet aluminum. Both the reed switch and its associated magnet mount may mount on either piece, so long as they are on opposite sides of the opening. The assembly incorporates an opening that is sized to receive a slidable, locking bolt fabricated from a ferromagnetic material such as mild or hardened steel. When the bolt is withdrawn from the opening, the reed switch is activated, thereby generating a signal which can be input to a security system.
