Abstract: A water-soluble substrate, and more particularly a water-soluble substrate that is resistant to dissolution, and methods of making the same are disclosed. The water-soluble substrate has a first and second surface. Water-insoluble particles are applied to and partially embedded in at least one of said first and second surfaces, thereby forming protruberances on said first and/or second surface. The protruberances have an average height of from 10 nanometer to 100 micrometer, and the average distance between adjacent peaks of said protruberances is from 10 nanometer to 200 micrometer. Articles, such as pouches, made from the water-soluble substrate, are also disclosed herein.
Abstract: Hand dish compositions such as those that are typically provided to the consumer in liquid form are disclosed. The hand dish composition is in the form of a flexible, porous, dissolvable substrate. The substrate may comprise hand care compositions. The article may take any number of suitable shapes.

Abstract: A process for making a detergent composition, the detergent composition comprising: a) from about 0.1% to about 50% by weight of the composition of a polymer in particulate form comprising: i) a carboxylic acid monomer; ii) more than about 5% by weight of the polymer of a sulfonic acid monomer; and iii) optionally a non-ionic monomer; and b) from about 0.01% to about 10% by weight of the composition of a hydrophilic silica. the process comprising the steps of: a) pre-mixing the polymer with the hydrophilic silica to obtain a polymer/silica premix; and b) mixing polymer/silica premix with any additional detergent components.
Abstract: A water-soluble pouch suitable for use in machine dishwashing and which comprises a plurality of compartments in generally superposed or superposable relationship, each containing one or more detergent active or auxiliary components, and wherein the pouch has a volume of from about 5 to about 70 ml and a longitudinal/transverse aspect ratio in the range from about 2:1 to about 1:8, preferably from about 1:1 to about 1:4. The water-soluble pouch allows for optimum delivery of dishwashing detergent. A process for the manufacture of multi-compartment pouches and a pack to contain the pouches are also disclosed.

Abstract: A process for preparing a perfume composition, the process having the steps of; (a) contacting a perfume ingredient with a molten material to form a pre-mix; (b) contacting the pre-mix with a first solid material to form a soft-solid intermediate high active perfume material; (c) solidifying the molten material to form a hardened-solid intermediate high active perfume material; (d) contacting the hardened-solid intermediate high active perfume intermediate material with a second solid material to form a perfume composition, wherein the ratio of the wt % amount of perfume ingredient present in the hardened-solid intermediate high active perfume material to the wt % amount of perfume ingredient present in the perfume composition is greater than 1.5:1.
