Patent number: 7043766Abstract: A garment has indentations forming air channels next to the body of the wearer, and includes: a first yarn preferably being a single monofilament of polyester; a second yarn preferably formed from staple or filament yarn, whether manmade or of natural fiber, such as polyester, cotton, rayon, nylon, acrylic; and a third yarn being an elastomeric yarn that provides proper stretch and recovery to enable a proper fit of the garment next to the body of the wearer. The first yarn preferably is a single monofilament of polyester. The second yarn preferably provides softness for comfort. The third yarn preferably is spandex. For certain applications of the garment, the second yarn is formed from staples of synthetic materials such as Kevlar, Nomex, or Spectra in order to provide fire retardence, cut resistance, and/or impact/ballistic protection. The indentations may be formed only in selected areas of the garment in accordance therewith.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2003Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: Enventys, LLCInventors: Louis J. Patent number: 7007927Abstract: An apparatus for the controlled lowering to the ground of a cut portion of a tree includes a rope and an anchor having an arrangement of guiding protuberances., each guiding protuberance including a bearing surface frictionally engaging and redirecting the rope without the rope fully encompassing any portion of the anchor including any of the guiding protuberances. Three guiding protuberances define a triangular arrangement. Of the three, a first guiding protuberance is disposed in proximity to an intermediate guiding protuberance defining a segment of a rope path therebetween, and a second guiding protuberance is disposed in proximity to the intermediate guiding protuberance defining another segment of the rope path therebetween without the segments crossing. A mounting member is attachable to the tree and a guiding member is pivotally connected to the mounting member along a pivot axis and includes an arrangement of guiding protuberances generally extending to each side thereof.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2001Date of Patent: March 7, 2006Inventor: D. Patent number: 7003598Abstract: A game control unit includes a computer processor for executing game logic stored on a removable memory device. Rich, audiovisual content for the interactive gaming experience is provided on a digital video disk (DVD) in small clips which are selectively played back in a standard DVD player under control of the game control unit. Specifically, the game control unit mimics standard remote control signals to control playback of the audiovisual content by the DVD player.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2002Date of Patent: February 21, 2006Assignee: Bright Entertainment LimitedInventor: John P. Patent number: 7001352Abstract: A dynamic splint for the positioning and functional exercise of a neurologically impaired upper extremity, including the wrist, hand and fingers, made up of a forearm support and hand support linked by a first connector. Fingertip caps are connected to finger tension leads that extend rearwardly to connect to a finger tensioner attached to the forearm support. The hand support includes adjustable tension lead guides for directing the finger tension leads to the fingertip caps. The dynamic splint also includes a thumb splint assembly made up of a thumb-tip cap connected to a thumb tension lead that extends rearwardly to a thumb tensioner attached to the forearm support. The thumb splint assembly further includes a thumb tension lead guide for directing the thumb tension lead to the thumb-tip cap.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2003Date of Patent: February 21, 2006Assignee: Saebo, Inc.Inventors: John F. Patent number: 7000439Abstract: A restraint system for an appendage includes a clamp assembly and an electromagnet capable of being selectively activated for restraint. The clamp assembly includes a base portion and a restraint structure opposing the base portion. The restraint structure defines an opening for receiving an appendage between the base portion and the restraint structure. When the electromagnet is activated for restraint, the clamp assembly restrains an appendage extending in the opening. Another restraint system includes an inflatable bladder arrangement selectively activated to inflate to a first state and to deflate to a second state. When in the first state, the bladder arrangement defines an opening for passing of an appendage there through; however, when in the second state, the bladder arrangement defines an opening that precludes withdrawal of an appendage extending there through.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 2004Date of Patent: February 21, 2006Inventor: Dennis J. DiDomenico

Patent number: 6934540Abstract: A plurality of wireless transceivers are associated with assets and each transceiver is assigned a class designation representative of an attribute, characteristic, relation, or behavior of its respective asset. Class based network formation routines are utilized to establish hierarchical networks based on asset classes, and the asset class is used by each transceiver to screen communications intended for receipt by transceivers of the same class. The overall wireless data communication network results in reduced power consumption and signal interference in asset-tracking applications. The transceivers may include a query handling routine for forming a dynamically distributed hierarchical database system.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2003Date of Patent: August 23, 2005Assignee: Seekernet, Inc.Inventor: Robert W. Patent number: 6868465Abstract: A user's intention to perform a computer operation is confirmed in order to safeguard against accidental performance of the operation. The operation is initiated only after a user's intention to perform the operation is confirmed. The user's intention is confirmed by removing from a computer configuration a removable storage medium (i) after a check for the presence of the removable storage medium within the computer configuration is performed and (ii) before a check for the continued presence of the removable storage medium within the computer configuration is performed. The user's intention is confirmed without requiring the use of a user-input device of a computer.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2003Date of Patent: March 15, 2005Assignee: Columbia Data Products, Inc.Inventor: Louis Perry Witt, Jr.

Patent number: 6865629Abstract: A user's intention to perform a computer operation is confirmed in order to safeguard against accidental performance of the operation. The operation is initiated only after a user's intention to perform the operation is confirmed. The user's intention is confirmed by replacing within a computer configuration a first removable storage medium with a second removable storage medium including thereon a second program. The first removable storage medium is replaced after a first program thereon has been read. The first program includes computer-executable instructions resulting in the reading and running of the second program, and the second program includes computer-executable instructions resulting in the initiating of the operation on the computer. The user's intention is confirmed without requiring the use of a user-input device of a computer.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2003Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Assignee: Columbia Data Products, Inc.Inventor: Louis P.
