  • Patent number: 6039424
Abstract: A refrigerator door supports a shelf which has a shelf front. The shelf is arranged to support a package to be retained, and the shelf has first, second, third, and fourth holes. A wire is arranged to be inserted into the first and third holes so that the wire has a first height with respect to the shelf, and the wire is arranged to be inserted into the second and fourth holes so that the wire has a second height with respect to the shelf. The first and second heights are different so that the wire and the shelf front are able to retain packages of different heights.

  • Patent number: 6030368
Abstract: An apparatus for delivering fluid, or power syringe, comprises a base, a lever, and a syringe. The syringe has a reservoir adapted for holding a quantity of fluid and a plunger disposed within the reservoir and adapted for movement therein. The reservoir features a clip on one end which releasably secures the end of the reservoir to the base and an inwardly facing annular flange on the second end which substantially prevents the plunger from being removed from the reservoir and substantially prevents leakage. The base of the apparatus features an extension beyond the end of the reservoir containing the clip, thereby providing stability to the apparatus during operation. The plunger features a clip on one end which releasably secures the plunger to the lever.

  • Patent number: 6015012
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for sealing a junction between a central and lateral wellbore is provided. In a broad aspect, the method of the present invention includes installing a polymerizable sealing sleeve within a first casing in a central wellbore at a junction between the first casing and a second casing in a lateral wellbore. After the sealing sleeve has been installed and allowed to cure, a milling tool is used to mill a window through a sidewall of the sealing sleeve and flush with the inner diameter of the second casing. The sealing sleeve may be used alone to establish a primary seal, or in combination with cement or other sealing substance, as used heretofore in prior art sealing methods, as a back-up seal. The sealing sleeve of the present invention may be provided with at least one orienting means to enable the second casing to be located and to direct a well tool thereinto.

  • Patent number: 6014933
Abstract: An improved downhole explosive charge carrier is disclosed. The invention uses a unique staggered charge pattern and a mounting configuration which allows the use of a straight, axially-located detonator in order to achieve a greater number of shots per unit length over conventional carriers. The invention also reduces the interference caused by the detonator and the closeness of the shots and thereby increases the performance of the individual charges, allowing smaller charges to be used to achieve the same perforation size.

  • Patent number: 6009962
Abstract: A rotary drill bit comprises a bit body having a leading surface formed at least in part from solid infiltrated matrix material, a major part of the leading surface being impregnated with abrasive particles of diamond or other superhard material. There are also mounted at the leading surface a plurality of larger cutting elements having cutting edges formed of superhard material which project above the surface, the larger cutting elements being so spaced as to define a substantially continuous cutting profile, so that the cutting elements in combination sweep over the whole of a bottom of a hole being drilled by the bit, during each revolution. The abrasive particles normally carry out the majority of the drilling action in hard formations, but the larger cutting elements serve to cut more rapidly through temporary obstructions which may be encountered in the borehole, such as a shoetrack.

  • Patent number: 5981927
Abstract: A microwave oven comprises a cabinet and a door attached to the cabinet to form a food processing chamber. The door has a screen, an absorbing film, and a frame. The screen reflects microwave energy away from the absorbing film, the screen has a plurality of screen lines and a plurality of screen openings defined by the plurality of screen lines, and the screen has a screen period. The absorbing film absorbs microwave energy passing through the screen. The frame supports the screen and the absorbing film in order to form a window through the door and to maintain leakage of microwave energy through the door from the food processing chamber below a predetermined level. The frame supports the screen and the absorbing film so that the screen and the absorbing film are separated by a distance which is as least as great as the screen period, and the screen and the absorbing film are electrically attached to the frame.

  • Patent number: 5971004
Abstract: The present invention is a surface controlled gas lift valve designed for high flow rates and used in a subterranean well, comprising: a valve and actuating assembly for sealable insertion in a mandrel. The valve has a variable orifice which alternately permits, prohibits, or throttles fluid flow into the valve, and a detachable and/or remote actuator are disclosed. The valve may be actuated using momentary bursts of hydraulic pressure to the actuating assembly. Variable orifice opening settings are achieved by providing successive bursts of hydraulic pressure to the actuating assembly, which cause a cylindrical cam within the actuating assembly to be indexed between multiple support positions. The orifice valve and the actuator while operatively connected, may be separately installed in or retrieved from the mandrel by either wireline or coiled tubing intervention methods.
