Abstract: Disclosed is a stabilized gene for transforming a host plant cell said gene comprising a gene exogenous to the plant cell and at least one stabilizing DNA segment in a 3'- or 5'-flanking region to said exogenous gene. Additionally, the invention relates to vectors comprising at least one stabilizing DNA segment in a 3'- or 5'-flanking region to the exogenous gene and methods for transforming plant cells. These stabilizing DNA segments include MAR, SAR, LCR, or LAR, HR and other repetitive elements.
