Abstract: In producing a composite yarn which includes a carrier strand and a layer of tacky polymer, provision is made for adjusting the position of a tube through which the carrier strand passes in relation to a polymer extrusion orifice to vary the annular thickness of the polymer layer.
Abstract: The present invention relates to improvements in binding dust particles such as coal dust in mining operations by coating exposed surfaces in mine workings with a dust binding agent. Additives to the binding agent enhance dust entrapment and may be coated on the exposed surfaces after an initial layer of binding agent has been structured in the mine workings.
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for cutting tow by supplying the two with a pair of rolls to form a package next to cutting edges inside a rotating ring of blades. A pressure roll forces the tow against the cutting edges which form a surface of rotation preferably at an angle of 5.degree. to 85.degree. to the axis of rotation of the circle of blades.
Abstract: In synthetic yarn texturing using crimping wheels, an indicating device is provided to aid in adjusting the peripheral spacing between the teeth of the wheels.
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for opening and conveying freshly spun staple fiber bundles. Said device is attached to a staple fiber cutter and consists of an axial blower with increased space between the fan blades and the interior wall of the casing.
Abstract: A matting comprised of a plurality of continuous amorphous synthetic thermoplastic filaments having an equivalent diameter of about 0.1 to 2.0 millimeters is disclosed to be used for the ground stabilization of road beds. The filaments comprising the matting are arranged in a number of superimposed contacting rows with an overlapping intersection of the loops of adjacent filaments in at least the same row with superficial bonding of the filaments at their points of intersection.
